The new trailer for the next Florian Zeller film has arrived, so stock up on Kleenex. In the preview, we get a glimpse at Zeller’s next film after The Father. It’s a precursor to a movie that’s set to come out in 2020, too. The Son will be another devastating portrayal of family strife, developing themes introduced in The Father and continuing them in subsequent generations. The film’s global debut was on September 7, 2022, at the Venice International Film Festival. Release date, 25 November 2022, for The Son in cinemas. Hugh Jackman plays Peter, a divorced father who is trying to repair his relationship with his kid. Peter will soon have to confront the repercussions of his actions and his prior attempt to start fresh following his divorce, as he juggles his busy new life with his wife, played by Vanessa Kirby, and baby kid and his teenage son Nicholas.
Peter, who had been promised a new beginning by his divorce from Katie (Laura Dern), suddenly finds himself mired in the aftermath of the breakup as his kid develops behavioural problems and stops attending school. Peter realises quickly that he has harmed the person he cares about the most, his son. Peter will have to go into his own history in order to repair his bond with his son. The latest trailer for the star-studded film offers a heartbreaking new look at the film’s central conflict, which pits Zen MacGrath’s character, Nicholas, against that of Peter, and shows how pain and trauma can be passed down through the generations despite the best of intentions and the greatest of love.
The clip provides us with a taste of Anthony Hopkins’ second collaboration with Zeller and demonstrates Jackman’s honest and sensitive performance. Hopkins’s character from The Father also appears in The Son. Hans Zimmer, winner of both an Oscar and a Grammy, composed the score for The Son. Florian Zeller both authored the script and helmed the production. The film is based on the play of the same name by Zeller. Zeller’s play was the middle instalment in his dramatic triumvirate, which also included The Father. The Mother is the final part of a trilogy of plays. On November 25, 2022, moviegoers will be able to see The Son in cinemas. Watch the latest trailer for the flick below to tide yourself over till then.
