Deadline reports that numerous major actors have joined Jason Statham (The Transporter) in filmmaker David Ayer’s forthcoming action thriller, The Beekeeper, which is now filming in the UK. Emmy Raver-Lampman, who is most known for her role as Allison Hargreeves in the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, is joined in the film by Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons in an unspecified role. Along with Josh Hutcherson, who is known for his portrayal as Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games trilogy, the picture also features Bobby Naderi (Under the Shadow).
We don’t know much more about the characters these performers will portray just yet, but as filming continues, we should learn more. The project is being directed by Ayer, whose previous credits include the blockbuster movies Fury and Suicide Squad. The script is written by Kurt Wimmer, who also wrote and directed Equilibrium. The film is being produced by Miramax and will be distributed by MGM. The film’s plot is a closely guarded secret, therefore not much is known about it. The film’s logline via Deadline, however, suggests that it will follow one man’s journey to vengeance after he is exposed as a former operative of a powerful and secret organisation known as the “Beekeepers.”
With a thrilling premise, a talented cast, and an experienced director at the helm, The Beekeeper is shaping up to be a fun and action-packed film when it finally releases. Irons has been acting for quite some time and has portrayed a number of memorable characters, including Scar in The Lion King and Batman’s butler Alfred in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. With the eventual release of The Beekeeper, Irons will also be seen alongside Tobin Bell in the forthcoming horror flick Cello (Saw).
In addition to her work on The Umbrella Academy, Raver-Lampman has provided her voice for the character of Molly Tillerman in both the Central Park animated series and the Blacklight action feature starring Liam Neeson. Some of Hutcherson’s most recent work includes the Paula Ortiz film Across the River and into the Trees and the Fox comedy series Future Man. The actor will also be seen in 57 Seconds, a science fiction thriller directed by Rusty Cundieff. Naderi has worked on other Netflix productions, such as Bright (also directed by Ayer) and the upcoming series Black Summer. In addition to the action thriller How I Got There and the Adam Saunders-directed comedy Dotty & Soul, he will soon be seen in the upcoming television series The Idol.
The Beekeeper is currently in process, therefore there is no confirmed release date just yet.
