Maggie Lovitt attended the New York Comic Con panel for Neil Gaiman’s popular series Good Omens this weekend. Season 2 will continue the fight against Armageddon, and Gaiman and others were there to discuss the next events and cast members. Maggie Service and Nina Sosanya will be back in the series in new roles, while newcomer Quelin Sepulveda was also confirmed. Sister Theresa Garrulous, played by Service, and Sister Mary Loquacious, played by Sosanya (and afterwards Mary Hodges), were both members of the order that misplaced the Antichrist and both featured in the episode earlier. They’ll both be playing characters named Maggie and Nina.
Although Gaiman elaborated extensively on Sepulveda’s part, very little information is available for either character. She’ll portray Muriel, another angel in Heaven who is goodhearted yet stuck at her station. She has been working in the same office for the past 6,000 years, and she is sick of just filing and reading documents all day. Sepulveda added insult to injury by calling her gullible and interested. With fresh territory to cover following the events of the novel by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett on which the first season was based, Season 2 will include “something going down in the up.”
We don’t know what that new terrain is yet, but we can assume it will keep the same lighthearted spirit as the original. The series, starring David Tennant as the devil Crowley and Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale, chronicled their efforts to thwart Armageddon and delay the arrival of the Antichrist so that they might continue living comfortably in London. Upon its debut, it was greeted with widespread praise, leading to three Emmy nominations and a Best Sound BAFTA award. Although she has already appeared in two episodes of Showtime’s The Man Who Fell to Earth this year, Sepulveda is still relatively fresh to the television landscape.
Other than that, she has a role in next year’s Tom Hardy and Timothy Olyphant-led Havoc as well as appearances in two short films. Over the years, Service has portrayed a variety of roles, but in 2020, she will reunite with Sheen in the AMC miniseries Quiz. Sosanya, for her part, was a member of the film’s stellar ensemble cast. Jon Hamm, Derek Jacobi, Niamh Walsh, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith, Dame Siân Phillips, Tim Downie, Pete Firman, Andi Osho, and Alex Norton are just some of the veterans and novices who will be joining the group. The second season finished shooting in Scotland in March and is expected to premiere in the summer of 2023. Season 1 is available in its entirety on Prime Video right now.
