A new teaser for Blockbuster, Netflix’s upcoming sitcom starring Randall Park and Melissa Fumero, has been published. Staff members at the final American Blockbuster do everything they can to keep the video rental company going so that nobody loses their employment in this comedy series. Timmy Yoon (Park) is introduced in the teaser as a man with a deep appreciation for traditional forms of entertainment and the interpersonal bonds that existed in the pre-Internet age. Hence, it’s not surprising that Timmy runs Blockbuster in his hometown instead of merely renting movies and games online.
Timmy is aware that Blockbuster is in decline, but he doesn’t give the matter much thought until he discovers that his local Blockbuster is the last of its kind. In light of this, Timmy resolves more firmly than ever before to do whatever it takes to maintain his business, protect the livelihoods of his employees, and rekindle interest in physical media in his neighbourhood. The new trailer for Blockbuster does a fantastic job of setting the scene and presenting the key characters, with special attention paid to Eliza (Melissa Fumero). Her husband was caught cheating on her with a younger lady, and now she has to accept her high school job back at Timmy’s Pizza.
Timmy has had a long-standing infatuation with Eliza, so her return may be a positive omen for him. Starring with Kamaia Fairburn and JB Smoove from Curb Your Enthusiasm are Tyler Alvarez (Crush), Madeleine Arthur (Devil in Ohio), Olga Merediz (In the Heights), and Tyler Alvarez. Vanessa Ramos is responsible for creating the show (Superstore, Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Ramos, David Caspe (Black Monday), and Jackie Clarke (Executive Producer) (Happy Endings). Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and John Fox serve as executive producers as well. On November 3, Netflix will release all 10 episodes of the hit show Blockbuster.
Synopsis
Randall Park’s Timmy Yoon (Yoon) is a digital romantic living in a 5G future. He has devoted his whole adult life to his first and only passion—movies—and to his one job—managing the Blockbuster Video in his hometown. The news that his Blockbuster is the nation’s final one causes Timmy great concern. He must now take decisive action to save his business and the jobs of his buddies. Timmy and his employees soon discover that having the only Blockbuster in town may be just what their neighbourhood needs to restore the personal ties they’ve lost since the rise of digital media.
In addition, it brings him back together with Eliza (Melissa Fumero), the object of his long-ago romantic interest and current employee. If Timmy finally decides to join the modern world, would it be because of this fight to preserve the past? His team members can only hold out hope.
