With Christmas quickly approaching, viewers can count on Lifetime’s distinctive ‘It’s A Wonderful Lifetime’ holiday slate to provide yet another enjoyable experience. Lifetime movie regulars like Mario Lopez and Sarah Drew are usually included in these films, but it was just reported that Kelsey Grammer (Fraiser) will be in one of this year’s films. The multiple Emmy winner will co-star with his own daughter, played by Spencer Grammer, in the upcoming Christmas film The 12 Days of Christmas Eve. Grammer will portray Brian Conway, a successful businessman who is having a banner year professionally but is struggling to achieve the same level of success at home.
He’s divorced, his daughter Michelle (Spencer Grammer) doesn’t speak to him, and he has a hard time spending meaningful time with his one and only granddaughter. Then, of course, Santa Claus appears. After getting into a collision on Christmas Eve, he meets the white-bearded hero through sheer luck. Santa gives him a second shot at life and he uses those 12 opportunities to try to fix the many relationships he’s damaged. It has been a long time coming, but I’m now getting to work alongside my talented daughter. In addition, there is nothing I enjoy more than a good Christmas movie, so I am looking forward to that as well, Grammer adds.
We’re making that with the help of Lifetime, Spencer, and the others. Grammer has already worked with the network on the critically acclaimed series Flowers in the Attic: The Origin, so this will not be his first effort for the company. Kelsey Grammer is widely recognised for his role as the narcissistic doctor Frasier Crane on Cheers, an immensely popular 1980s comedy on NBC. Because Grammer was so convincing in the part, a spin-off series called Fraiser was created around him. It’s expected that the spinoff will be even more successful than the original, garnering Grammer four Emmys and two Globes. Paramount+ has authorised a revival of the series, and the news of Grammer’s participation in the next Lifetime movie comes on the heels of the revelation that he will reprise his role as the psychiatrist-turned-radio host.
In addition to his upcoming role in Jesus Revolution, Grammer will be featured in the action picture Wanted Man, co-starring Dolph Lundgren. Spencer Grammer, the daughter of actor Kelsey Grammer, has carved herself a successful career on television. She is perhaps best recognised for her role as the lead in the ABC Family series Greek. She has provided the voices of a few animated characters in critically praised programmes including Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken, and most recently, The Barbarian and the Troll. Lifetime’s Executive VP of Scripted Content, Tanya Lopez, said, “Kelsey and Spencer joining It’s a Wonderful Lifetime for this new movie truly makes it a true family event and is a terrific reminder of what the holidays are all about.” Lifetime commissioned The 12 Days of Christmas Eve from Grammer’s production firm.
The movie will be directed by Dustin Rikert, with a script written by Eirene Tran Donahue. Grammer, Tom Russo, and Jordan McMahon serve as executive producers. As of yet, we don’t know when The 12 Days of Christmas Eve will broadcast, but the first film in the “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” lineup, Merry Swissmas (featuring Jodie Sweetin and Mikaela Lily), will air on November 5.
