Based on his impressive slate of future movies, Jonathan Majors is likely one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood. Although Majors has a lot on his plate right now, he appears to be capable of taking on even more, as Deadline reports that he is in discussions to play NBA superstar Dennis Rodman in the upcoming Lionsgate film, 48 Hours in Vegas.
In 1998, Rodman went on a crazy trip to Sin City with his nervous assistant general manager, and their exploits would be chronicled in 48 Hours in Vegas. During Game 5 of the NBA Finals, the legendary NBA player requested a personal timeout to talk strategy with his coach. His Chicago Bulls were playing the Utah Jazz.
Rodman went on a wild spree during that 48-hour vacation, and the story behind it has become legendary in the sports world. One of the highlights of that experience was the odd relationship that formed between Rodman and his general manager, which ultimately benefited both parties. In the recent blockbuster ESPN docuseries, The Last Dance, Michael Jordan, a teammate of Rodman’s on the Bulls, and former coach Phil Jackson discussed the events of that night and offered their own perspectives on what transpired.
This film is not a biography, but it does plan to explore the story in greater depth by using an original angle. This script by Jordan VanDina sparked a bidding battle, from which Lionsgate ultimately emerged triumphant. When the film was announced last year, Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group president Nathan Kahane said, “This movie takes you on an unforgettable ride with the myth, the legend, and also the man that Dennis is, behind everything you think you know.” He went on to say, “We could not be more thrilled to be working with Phil, Chris, Aditya, Ari, Will, and Jordan, and above all, Dennis, whose amazing career and life will make for an off-the-wall hilarious yet completely What, you consider yourself an expert on “The Worm”? And just wait till you see what happens! ”
Deadline reports that talks are progressing favourably, but that Majors has not yet been officially cast in the role.
Majors appears to be the best possible contender for the job, given his impressive history. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, both from Marvel Studios, see him reprising his Loki role as Kang the Conqueror. A United States citizen, he plans to play for his country. This year’s Thanksgiving edition of Devotion features Navy fighter pilot Jesse Brown. Creed III also features Majors with Michael B. Jordan. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood are the producers of “48 Hours in Vegas.” The trio of Ari Lubet, Will Allegra, and Rodman serve as executive producers. Currently, production has not even begun.
