Our anticipation for the next instalment in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series has been whetted somewhat in recent weeks, despite the fact that we are still quite some time away from the series’ scheduled publication. The first trailer for the film adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling books was published as part of Disney’s properties at the most recent D23 Expo. The preview takes us back to Camp Half-Blood and hints at the impending threat. With a possible premiere in 2024 on Disney+, further details about the show’s plot will become available in the next weeks and months.
The actor portraying the show’s demigod, Walker Scobell, has already begun digging through that trove of knowledge. Scobell told IMDb that the Greek God of War, Ares, will be appearing in the new series adaption and that there will be a showdown between the two in the end. “This was the battle of Ares. Easily the most exciting battle in the entire series, “As Scobell put it. “Ares fight was the first thing that sprang to me when I found out I got the role. I can hardly wait to get started on it.” Those unfamiliar with the series’ literary inspiration may not care much about Ares’s inclusion in the show, but aficionados of the show will likely embrace the arrival of the god.
Although Riordan’s material has been adapted before, the 2010 Logan Lerman film included no input from Riordan and so did not include Ares. However, the picture recasts Hades, the god of the underworld, as the film’s enemy instead of Ares. Lerman has expressed his enthusiasm for the new series, stating, “I’m incredibly enthusiastic and interested to watch it,” despite the fact that the adaptation he oversaw was not as successful as the original material. Just the casting and the way they’re handling things, plus the fact that Rick [Riordan] is in charge, has me really optimistic about the project’s future. I’m thrilled for the next generation of fans to experience it and glad for them. The actor denied reports that he will be appearing in the remake.
While we don’t yet know who will portray Ares, we do know who will play his daughter. Clarisse La Rue, the fiercely competitive daughter of Ares, will be portrayed by Dior Goodjohn. It comes as no surprise that La Rue is also known as the camp’s resident bully. Aryan Simhadri, Leah Sava Jeffries, Charlie Bushnell, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, and Timm Sharp are set to guest feature on the series with series regulars Goodjohn and Scobell. The Disney+ streaming service will debut the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. But the premiere date of the series has not been set.
