Your behind will no longer be soaking wet. Netflix has announced that The Great British Baking Show will return on April 5. The thirteenth season of everyone’s favourite warm and fuzzy baking competition programme set under a garden tent is coming to the streaming service on September 16. In a fresh tweet sent today, Netflix made the news. The Netflix official account issued the following statement: “It’s time to return to your tent. New upcoming episodes of The Great British Baking Show are released weekly on Fridays beginning September 16.”
Along with the news came a photo of the next season’s hosts, judges, and participants, all of whom looked determined to show that the key to success lay within the sticky centres of their respective puddings. Comedians Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas, hosts of the past two seasons, will return for Season 13. Also returning for the upcoming season are judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood. Since the show’s inception in 2010, Paul Hollywood has been a constant presence. The series was a great success in Britain before it made its way to American television and Netflix.
This series is a continuation of a previous baking competition that followed a group of British amateur bakers as they took part in weekly themed tests. Each episode concludes with the elimination of one of the competitors, with the stakes and difficulty of the challenges increase as the tournament nears its conclusion. In contrast to other cooking competition shows like “Chopped,” this one is recognised for its relaxed pace and amicable atmosphere. In addition to showcasing the candidates’ baking skills, the show encourages viewers to see themselves in them.
Some participants play it safe with their stiff-peaked meringues while others take daring, almost dangerous risks with each new year’s crop of hopefuls. Even though we don’t know much about this season’s candidates at this point, we can assume that they will be a diverse and entertaining bunch according to the photo that accompanied today’s announcement.
