Paramount+ has announced the additions of James Jordan, LaMonica Garrett, and Dave Annable to the cast of Taylor Sheridan’s forthcoming series Lioness. These three will join Zoe Saldana and Laysla De Oliveira, who were already tapped to play prominent roles in the show. Based on a genuine CIA operation, the show will centre on Cruz Manuelos (De Oliveira), an enthusiastic young Marine who is recruited by the agency to join its Lioness Engagement Team and work to infiltrate and destroy a terrorist group from inside. Saldana will play Joe, the program’s station head, who is responsible for mentoring and guiding a team of female spies.
Jordan and Garrett, two new recruits, will join Joe’s squad and play the roles of Two Cups and Tucker, respectively, both seasoned CIA operatives. Annable will portray Joe’s spouse and the father of their two girls, Neil. This month, production for the series will start in Baltimore. Sheridan has worked with Jordan, Garrett, and Annable for quite some time. Jordan has had significant roles in several critically praised television programmes, including the director’s 1883 and Paramount’s Yellowstone. He has also co-starred in films with Jeremy Renner and Angelina Jolie, such as Wind River and Sheridan’s Those Who Wish Me Dead.
The actor known for his role in Sons of Anarchy also has a long list of other acting credits, including appearances in 1883, The Terminal List, Delilah, Designated Survivor, and the CW’s Arrowverse. The alum from Yellowstone Annable has just returned to the role he created for Season 4. He also had a recurrent part in the CW show Walker. Television shows he has worked on include 666 Park Avenue, Heartbeat, and Steven Spielberg’s Red Band Society. Sheridan is now the showrunner for the series after Thomas Brady stepped down, and he is developing the programme as part of his overall arrangement with Paramount.
Along with 1883 and Mayor of Kingstown, Sheridan is now working on the next series Tulsa King starring Sylvester Stallone, the Yellowstone spinoff 1923 with Bass Reeves, and the Billy Bob Thornton-led Land Man. Along with David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Malone, and John Hillcoat, Sheridan will serve as an executive producer on the show. In addition to assisting Nicole Kidman and Blossom Films, Saldana will also take on the role of executive producer. Both MTV and 101 Studios are responsible for making Lioness. Paramount has not provided a premiere date as of yet.
