A series from Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh has been in the works at HBO Max for over a year. The series’ main attraction finally gives viewers something to look forward to. The criminal thriller series Full Circle will feature Zazie Beetz, who has been nominated for an Emmy for her work on Atlanta. All six episodes will have Soderbergh at the helm. The events of Full Circle will take place in present-day New York City and revolve around an investigation into a botched kidnapping.
Once the dust settles from the destroyed scheme, long-buried secrets from all throughout the city will be exposed. Beetz’s character history is still being kept under wraps. Beetz’s most prominent roles to date have been in the highly acclaimed television series Atlanta and the Oscar-winning picture Joker. She has also made appearances in movies including Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train as well as The Harder They Fall and Nine Days. Beyond Full Circle, Beetz is rumoured to be in discussions to return for the Joker sequel, and she will feature in the much-anticipated sixth season of Black Mirror.
Later this month, Beetz will be featured in the premiere of Atlanta’s final season. Soderbergh has a lengthy and illustrious history in the director’s chair. Both Traffic and Erin Brockovich earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Director that year. In addition to Ocean’s Eleven and its two sequels, the pandemic thriller Contagion, and Channing Tatum’s Magic Mike, he has directed a wide range of other films. His most recent film was Kimi, an HBO Max feature starring Zo Kravitz, and his next is Magic Mike: Magic Mike’s Last Dance, the third instalment in the Magic Mike franchise. Recently a regular collaborator of Soderbergh’s, Ed Solomon penned all six episodes of Full Circle.
Soderbergh directed the HBO film No Sudden Move and the HBO drama series Mosaic, both written by Solomon. While much of Solomon’s recent output has been criminal dramas, it’s worth noting that he’s also the man behind such diverse projects as Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Super Mario Bros., and Men in Black. Together with Casey Silver, Soderbergh and Solomon will serve as executive producers on the show. Silver has previously produced the films No Sudden Move and Mosaic with the actors.
