Even if there are already several highly regarded K-Dramas dominating mainstream culture, hearing about a brand new, highly anticipated K-Drama is always exciting. Thankfully, a new Korean show called Glitch has been confirmed for its October 7 release on Netflix. Netflix Korea has announced the series’ launch date and released a promotional poster for the show. The accompanying poster depicts a lady standing in the centre of a mystery circle painted on a parking lot. The Korean characters she sees in the lights read “My boyfriend has departed from Earth.”
The show is guaranteed to be interesting to fans since it will have a lot of mystery, comedy, and drama. In the upcoming show, the protagonist, a young lady called Hong Ji-Hyo, watches helplessly as her boyfriend disappears in a blaze of light. When Hong Ji-Hyo can’t find her boyfriend on her own, she turns to the members of a UFO society for assistance. Investigating further, Hong Ji-Hyo begins to uncover a strange scheme. Just Jeon Yeo Bin, Nana, Lee Dong Hwi, Ryu Kyung Soo, and Baek Joo Hee have been confirmed for the cast of Glitch thus far. Some of these actors may be familiar to Netflix viewers who have seen previous South Korean productions.
Extracurricular stars Baek as brothel madam Cho Mi Jung, Vincenzo’s love interest Jeon, and Lovestruck in the City’s Kang Gun. The show’s director, Roh Deok, and writer, Jin Han-See, are responsible for its comedic and suspenseful elements. For her part, Roh has worked on films including The Exclusive: Beat the Devil’s Tattoo and Very Ordinary Couple, while Jin is most known as the producer of the groundbreaking Netflix series Extracurricular, which debuted in 2020.
It’s interesting that Glitch will be her debut TV show. The creation of Glitch has taken a considerable amount of time. In a press statement dated December 30, 2020, Netflix said that production on a brand new Korean drama titled Glitch will begin soon. Production began in May of 2021 when Jeon Yeo-Bin was offered the main role in early March but was temporarily halted on July 23, 2021, when an actor caught COVID-19 on site. After finishing production in December 2021, Netflix completed post-production the following year. There will be 10 episodes of Glitch, and each one will be around an hour long.
On October 7, 2022, the next season of the Netflix original series will be available for streaming.
