Actress Brec Bassinger, who plays the major role in Stargirl, has revealed her hopes for a romantic pairing for her character, Courtney Whitmore. Bassinger was asked in an interview with Looper about which shows she would want to see cross-over with Stargirl. Stargirl is part of The CW’s DC Comics programming, although it is treated as its own entity and takes place on a parallel Earth. Bassinger has previously stated that, due to its vibe, she’d love to see Stargirl cross over with Superman & Lois. “I can easily see our concerts blending,” Bassinger added. “Superman is arguably the most well-known superhero of all time. The idea of Stargirl and Superman joining forces is fantastic.”
Superman & Lois is also situated on an alternative Earth beyond the Arrowverse, like Stargirl. Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin (Superman/Clark Kent) and Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), who have both been in the Arrowverse, although the show is set on a different Earth, as was revealed in the season two finale. Bassinger didn’t stop there, though; she also suggested another Kryptonian superhero Stargirl might pair up with.
Bassinger has always expressed a desire to see the legendary female power pair of Supergirl and Stargirl join forces, saying, “From the very beginning, I said I’ve wanted to see Supergirl and Stargirl partner up.” “Together, I think they would challenge and encourage one another. I have always referred to her as both Supergirl and Stargirl.” The final episode of Supergirl, which starred Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, aired in 2021. Chyler Leigh, however, returned to the character of Alex Danvers after the series’ conclusion in the Season 8 crossover episode “Armageddon” of The Flash.
Despite being maintained primarily outside of the Arrowverse, Stargirl has had some crossover with The CW’s shared reality. Five episodes into the 2019–2020 “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, Stargirl was shown to be part of the Arrowverse’s universe through the use of footage from an episode. It was revealed in this episode that Stargirl takes place on Earth-2. In addition, John Wesley Shipp’s portrayal of a different version of Jay Garrick/The Flash in the second season of Stargirl served as a connecting link between the two shows.
In the Arrowverse’s The Flash, which features Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Shipp also portrays a variation of the character. With Starman/Sylvester Pemberton (Joel McHale) and Courtney’s dad Pat Dugan, Stargirl’s Jay Garrick was one of the founding members of the Justice Society of America (Luke Wilson). The CW airs new episodes of Stargirl every Wednesday at 8 p.m.
