According to Deadline, Netflix and Amblin Entertainment have added actor Jason Bateman to the cast of their forthcoming thriller film Carry On. The picture will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who was responsible for The Shallows and will feature the actor opposite Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service). A young TSA employee named Ethan Kopek (Egerton) is coerced into allowing a mystery yet hazardous cargo to get through security and onto an aircraft on one of the busiest days of the year (Christmas), but no specifics have been verified regarding the role that Bateman will play.
As filming gets underway, we may expect to learn more plot points and cast members. Carry On has a promising idea that might have viewers on the edge of their seats, hence it’s worth keeping an eye out for when it ultimately makes its way to Netflix. The film’s screenplay was written by Michael Green, based on an earlier draught by TJ Fixman. The movie will be directed by Dylan Clark, and executive producers Brian Williams, Scott Greenberg, and Seth William Meier are all on board.
After forming a relationship last year, Netflix and Amblin Entertainment are teaming up to make this picture, which will be the first of many. Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt featured in the 2016 film Jungle Cruise, which was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. In addition to the eventual release of carrying On, the filmmaker has also rejoined with Johnson for this year’s Black Adam, which is planned for an October 21st release. Furthermore, starring in the critically acclaimed series Ozark, for which Bateman won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, he even directed episodes.
His second upcoming Netflix film is a romantic comedy called Your Place or Mine, directed by Aline Brosh McKenna. Moreover, Ben Affleck (with Matt Damon as co-writer for the third time) will direct and star in an untitled Nike biography in which the actor will also feature.
There is currently no release date for Carry On since production is still in its early stages.
