Two more cast members have been added for Season 2 of the smash Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty. Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher have both been cast in recurring roles for Season 2 on the streaming service. Information about their personalities is being withheld for the time being. The forthcoming season’s plot is still a bit of a mystery. The programme has a lot of material to work with thanks to Season 1 and the books written by Jenny Han. Emotions ran high as the first season came to a close, what with Susannah addressing the news of her cancer’s recurrence with Conrad and Jeremiah and Belly and Steven getting the news themselves.
It was definitely an emotional roller coaster for Belly to decide who she should be with, but she ended the season with a kiss from Conrad. The programme also expands the arcs of established characters from the novel and introduces new ones developed especially for the show. It’s Not Summer Without You, the second book in the original book trilogy has story points that the programme may easily take up if Season 2 follows the original book trilogy. Readers are taken back to Cousins Beach, albeit the atmosphere has changed now that Susannah’s cancer has returned.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah tells Belly that Conrad has disappeared, leading him on a mission to track him down and make amends. Conrad’s absence, in particular, might have been prompted by a number of factors, especially in light of the events of Season 1. The film The Summer I Turned Pretty, based on Han’s novel of the same name, centres on Belly (Lola Tung), who spends every summer at Cousins Beach with her brother Steven (Sean Kaufman), their mother Laurel (Jackie Tung), and their friends Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) and her two sons Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Caselengo).
However, this year is different since Belly is in a love triangle and must decide between Conrad and Jeremiah, who previously viewed her as a child. This is the second young adult series by Han to be adapted for the big screen; Netflix previously released film versions of her novel To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. The new show is a real gift for Han aficionados. There was a lot of buzz around the release of The Summer I Turned Pretty this past summer, and Prime Video joined in on the excitement by renewing the programme for a second season before it ever debuted. Series creators Han and Gabrielle Stanton also ran the show throughout its first season.
This season, Han and Sarah Kucserka share the duties as showrunner. Together with Stanton and Wiip’s Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee, they serve as executive producers. To round out the cast, we have Alfredo Narciso, Minnie Mills, Colin Ferguson, and Tom Everett Scott. The premiere date for Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty has not been set. The next season is presently being filmed, so maybe it won’t be too long before it airs. On Prime Video, Season 1 is available immediately.
