White Sands (Hviide Sande) is a new Danish crime series premiering on Topic next month, and this is the official teaser. The show centres on two undercover police officers who, to solve a murder in a small town, must pose as a married couple. Hvide Sande is a small Danish village near the coast and a popular surfing location, and the video exposes you to this sunny paradise. Tourists can pack Hvide Sande, but locals are kind and there aren’t too many of them. The police in both Germany and Denmark must think outside the box when a German man is found dead in the town.
The killing of the guy may have ties to a large criminal organisation, and no one seems willing to discuss the crime. German police recruit Danish undercover expert Helene (Carsten Bjrnlund) to assist homicide investigator Thomas (Carsten Bjrnlund) in solving the case (Marie Bach Hansen). As a pair, they must assume the identities of a newlywed couple and then sneak around town looking for clues to the murder. Thomas, on the other hand, is a detective who follows the book to the letter, whereas Helene prefers to be creative with her undercover job.
However, the video emphasises that they will need to learn to work together despite their differences if they have any hope of cracking the case. White Sands’ trailer is full of comedic moments when Helene and Thomas’s divergent personalities cause them to argue and almost blow each other’s covers. More importantly, it shows that the marital facade may eventually give way to genuine devotion after the two have worked together for some time.
White Sands is still primarily a crime drama, and the trailer makes clear that the protagonists will be put in perilous situations as they strive to learn the truth. Tilde Harkamp is the director of White Sands (Hunting Season). It was nominated for Zulu Best Series in 2022 and took up the Robert Award at the 2022 Danish Film Awards. Synopsis
Two police investigators are dispatched undercover to the popular vacation spot of Hvide Sande on the western coast of Jutland to investigate the gruesome murder of a young German surfer. The locals don’t have faith in the police, so they have to make it seem like a city couple is relocating to the North Sea shore to start a new life. Helene, a Dane and an undercover policing expert, and Thomas, a Dane and a homicide investigator in Hamburg, Germany, make up the two police officers.
They rapidly learn that it’s not simple to be convincing in the roles of husband and wife when one is accustomed to living independently. However, as they become more acquainted with the locals and the town’s circumstances, hidden connections, and old scars, they also become closer to one another and experience the reawakening of their own emotions.
