According to an exclusive story from Deadline, work on Disney and Tim Story’s (Barbershop) new Christmas picture, Dashing Through the Snow, has begun in Atlanta. The unnamed production will premiere on Disney+ sometime next year, perhaps around the holidays. Ludacris, a veteran of the Fast & Furious franchise, will join Lil Rel Howery (Free Guy) and Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau in the current film Wandavision) in the film in an unspecified capacity. Madison Skye Validum, who will soon be seen in Netflix’s Ivy + Bean, joins the previously mentioned Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), Oscar Nunez (The Lost City), Ravi Patel (Meet the Patels), and Marcus Lewis (The Walking Dead) in the cast.
The film’s plot, as reported by Deadline, revolves around a social worker who has grown to despise the Christmas season as a result of painful memories from her upbringing. His life takes an unexpected turn on Christmas Eve when he is dispatched on a call and encounters a person who helps him rediscover the enchantment of the holiday while also upsetting a local politician. Dashing Through the Snow, which will premiere on Disney+ in the upcoming year, has a classic holiday theme at its heart and has the potential to be a pleasant holiday treat for viewers. Will Packer (Will Packer Productions) and John Jacobs (Smart Entertainment) are the producers of Dashing Through the Snow, which was written by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level).
The story will not only direct the movie, but will also act as an executive producer alongside Johanna Byer, Ross Fanger, and Zac Unterman. The Santa Clauses, a sequel to the original movie, will be released by Disney around the same time as the upcoming Dashing Through the Snow. A number of actors from the films, including Tim Allen and David Krumholtz, will reprise their roles in the TV series, which will premiere on the streaming service later this year. In 2019, Disney also presented Noelle, a streaming-exclusive holiday film, to coincide with the introduction of their streaming service.
With the announcement of another Christmas film, Disney’s holiday offering keeps expanding. While a specific release date for Dashing Through the Snow has not been announced, the Christmas-themed picture is likely to open sometime in the coming year.
