Documentary Anvil! About Heavy Metal That’s Getting Lots of Praise There will soon be a theatrical release of The Story of Anvil. In the fall, fans of the Canadian metal band may experience the highs and lows of their career. After its debut on September 22 at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles, where a live performance by the band and a Q&A with the band members, director Sacha Gervasi, and producer Rebecca Yeldham is scheduled, the 2008 documentary will be distributed to 200 cinemas, according to Deadline.
A new exclusive epilogue interview has been added to the film, and it will be published with upgraded visuals and audio. Rarely do documentaries get re-released, but this might be a testimonial to the film’s excellence and the fervour of metalheads everywhere. Gervasi appeared to be taken aback by the reissue “Is it true that this movie will play in theatres again? In other words, someone needs to wake me up!” Anvil! Learn about the highs and lows of Canadian metal band Anvil in The Story of Anvil. Anvil, a metal band formed in 1978 by Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Robb Reiner, had a brief period of prominence in the 1980s and were influential to future bands like Metallica and Guns N’ Roses, but have since fallen into oblivion.
When the film begins, Kudlow and Reiner are in 2006, living quietly in suburban Toronto before embarking on a tour of Europe that would hopefully reignite their musical careers. The tour fails miserably, putting a significant strain on the band’s resources and relationships. But after taking out a loan to make a new album with Metal on Metal producer Chris Tsangarides, the band is once again successful. The band’s lives are examined in Anvil!, which has received praise for its touching narrative and its open, humorous tone.
Since the release of The Story of Anvil, the metal band has gone on a string of successful tours and released a slew of new recordings, the most recent of which, Impact is Imminent, hit shelves earlier this year. Co-producing the re-release with filmmaker Gervasi’s Portobello Electric is Vancouver-based Utopia and distribution firm Abramorama, who first released the film in 2008. Gervasi, Yeldham, Rick Krim, and Christopher Soos served as producers on the picture. In the 1980s, Gervasi worked as a roadie for the band Anvil. He has since directed many narrative pictures, such as Hitchcock and My Dinner With HervĂ©. Anvil! Beginning September 27 and continuing in select cinemas for the month of October is the cinematic release of The Story of Anvil.
