The intriguing independent drama Finalmente L’alba keeps adding to its cast. Along with Lily James and Oscar contender Willem Dafoe, Deadline reports that Stranger Things star Joe Keery has joined the ensemble cast. Finalmente L’alba, or Finally Dawn, is an upcoming Italian film directed by award-winning writer and director Saverio Costanzo. At this time, the film’s story details are being kept secret. Even though production and writing credits for Costanzo’s sixth feature picture have yet to be announced, the cast is already working up a buzz. It was previously announced that in addition to James and Dafoe, the production will also star Rachel Sennott (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies) and newcomer Rebecca Antonaci.
In addition to Keery’s announcement, production is rumoured to start in Italy in the month of August. Keery’s breakout performance came as the beloved Steve Harrington in Netflix’s 1980s throwback series Stranger Things, which earned him an Emmy nomination. Although the actor already had some experience under his belt, the release of the series propelled its youthful ensemble to popularity in 2016, winning 14 Emmy nominations and becoming Netflix’s most popular programme to date. Keery plays the former Hawkins High School bad boy-turned-good-guy dad of six in the episode.
Keery joined the cast of Fargo on FX after the fourth season finale, playing the role of Gator Tillman. His latest film, the love drama Marmalade, costarring Camila Marrone (Death Wish), has ended filming, and he will soon be seen in David Koepp’s viral thriller Cold Storage (Mission: Impossible). Co-star Dafoe is recognised for his work as Norman Osborn/the Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, Robbert Eggers’ The Lighthouse, and most recently The Northman starring Alexander Skarsgrd. Besides her role as Cinderella in Disney’s live-action remake, James is well-known for her appearances in Mama Mia! Here We Go Again, Downton Abbey, and the Hulu original miniseries Pam & Tommy, in which she co-starred alongside Sebastian Stan as Pamela Anderson.
Heavy dramas are the norm for Costanzo’s films, and he frequently contributes to their scripts in his dual role as writer and director. His filmography includes such notable works as “In Memory of Me,” “Private,” and “Hungry Hearts,” his most recent picture released in 2014. Multiple honours were given out at the Venice Film Festival for the romantic thriller starring Adam Driver (House of Gucci) about a young couple whose bond is tested in a life-or-death circumstance. There is no set date for the publication of Finalmente L’alba.
