The independent sister of Sherlock Holmes, Enola Holmes, is coming back to Netflix this autumn, and the service has just released brand new first-look photographs from the much-awaited sequel. Millie Bobby Brown, who reprises her role as the young detective, comes back to solve the crime alongside a few returning cast members and a few new additions. After Enola (Henry Cavill) has shown herself an intellectual match for her famous elder brother (played by Henry Cavill), the sequel (also based on a novel series by Springer) moves to London.
Although the original movie was set in Victorian England, returning director Harry Bradbeer remarked, “I was going for a grimmer tone with this plot. Because I felt it was important for her to meet other women from the working class, “Moreover, he expressed a desire to witness Enola performing beyond her comfort zone. Bradbeer said that he wanted Enola to have an out-of-this-world experience so that she could showcase her fiery personality and talents. Inspired by her brother’s success, Enola launches her own detective business in the sequel, where she aids a young factory girl in need.
Enola embarks on a brand-new adventure in which she must solve a high-stakes case to locate a missing girl’s sister. Enola’s journey into the murky industrial underbelly of London will be full of conspiracies as she tries to solve this perilous mystery. Our fourth-wall-breaking investigator is shown in fresh photographs escaping from the city as the cops close in on her. Brown, having read Springer’s series, had an interest in making movies based on it, and he ended up producing both of them.
Brown expressed his eagerness to learn more about Enola’s universe by saying: “The film is set in busy London, an aspect of the city that was underrepresented in the original. We get an in-depth look at the young girl’s day-to-day life and her explorations of the wacky metropolis that surrounds her.” Pictures of Enola’s youthful love interest, the charming Tewkesbury, and her smart brother Sherlock returning to help (and conflict with) his sister are also shown (Louis Partridge). In the sequel, Enola, played by Helena Bonham Carter, Enola will face up against a suspicious police officer played by David Thewlis of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
There’s no news on what role Sharon Duncan-Brewster, who portrayed Enola in Dune, will play in this new film, but the photographs show her in gorgeous black lace among London’s social elite. Fans can expect more of the same high-octane action and wink to the camera that made the original film a hit, thanks to the return of director Bradbeer and writer Jack Thorne (His Dark Materials).
Bradbeer believes the actress’s contribution was crucial to recapturing Enola’s wrath and biting wit since Brown stayed especially connected to the production as a producer. He continued: “She can follow a tale written for adults, but she also has the natural intuition of a child, which is as important. She puts a lot of faith in us to tell the narrative, and she offers suggestions as we go along. That’s the crux of the matter: she has an amazing gut feeling about who Enola is.” On November 4, Netflix subscribers will be able to see the second instalment of the Enola Holmes series.
