VH1 has officially greenlit the iconic competition series RuPaul’s Drag Race for a 15th season, confirming months of fan speculation. The debut of Season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race will be the 200th episode of the series. Season 14 debuted in January, therefore it’s safe to assume that Season 15 will also start in January. RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, the show’s spinoff, has also been renewed for a new season, as was previously revealed by VH1. This comes on the heels of the revelation that Season 14 of RuPaul’s Drag Race has been nominated for 11 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Competition Program and Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program.
The hostess with the mostess, RuPaul, recently commented on the renewal, stating, “When I hear season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, I have to pinch myself – I just won’t tell you where. We will never take for granted the privilege of showcasing the best of drag and telling true LGBTQ tales. Please accept my gratitude on behalf of the cast, crew, World of Wonder, VH1, and, most importantly, our fearless queens. Finalists Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Lady Camden, Willow Pill, Bosco, and Daya Betty went head to head in the season 14 finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race, with Willow Pill emerging victorious. Kornbread Jeté took home the crown for “Miss Congeniality.” The debut of Season 14 of RuPaul’s Drag Race was the show’s highest-rated premiere since Season 12 in 2018. Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race who can’t wait for the 15th season can get their fix every week by watching the second season of RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race, which airs on VH1 every Friday night.
In the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, nine famous faces from all walks of life decide to train in drag and compete against one another in a lip-sync battle. The two lowest-scoring celebrity queens will be ordered to “sashay away” if they can’t lip sync to save their life in each show. Legends of Drag Race like Eureka, Gottmik, Katya, Morgan McMichaels, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, and Violet Chachki will serve as mentors to the celebrity candidates. Weekly airings of both Season 3 of Canada’s Drag Race and Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under can be seen on WOW Presents Plus in addition to RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race.
For the whole month of August, Los Angeles’ Carrera Cafe displays a unique Drag Race mural. Pictures taken in front of the mural with the hashtag #DragRaceFYCMural will result in VH1 donating to the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The Cafe is also offering promos, such as a RuPaul’s Drag Race coffee topper.
