Lucy Liu Will Be a Part of Netflix’s Limited Series “A Man in Full”, Cast, Release Date, Synopsis & More

Lucy Liu, a Hollywood A-lister, has hardly been away from the small screen before she is preparing to make her return. Variety has learned exclusively that the Kill Bill and Charlie’s Angels actor will be joining the cast of the six one-hour episodes of Netflix’s limited series A Man in Full. The show will revolve around a wealthy real estate developer and the individuals who want to take advantage of his financial crisis. Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom), who plays the lead role of Charlie Croker and has won two Emmys, will be joined by Liu in the cast. The show’s summary claims that no matter how chaotic things get, Croker will not give up on his business.

The person or people who seek to gain from his demise should expect him to be crass, harsh, and irresistible. In the role of Joyce Newman, Liu portrays the creator of a successful clean beauty company who is experiencing a moral crisis, which is bad for business and is guaranteed to enrage her coworkers. Liu is a seasoned TV actor, having appeared in recurring parts on shows including CBS’s Pearl, the critically acclaimed court drama Ally McBeal, and Southland. It was in the mystery series Elementary that she portrayed Joan Watson, the sidekick of Sherlock Holmes (Johnny Lee Miller), for the longest period of time (7 seasons).

Liu has recently appeared in Stage Mother and will have a major role in the forthcoming Warner Bros. and DC movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The novel from which the film A Man in Full is adapted was written by Tom Wolfe and published in 1998 under the same title. David E. Kelley, an 11-time Emmy winner, serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer for the series. Kelley’s earlier works include the adaptation of novels into the hugely successful series Big Little Lies and Big Sky, as well as the creation of the critically praised sitcoms Boston Legal and Doogie Howser. Regina King (One Night in Miami…), who is collaborating with Kelley on the A Man in Full adaptation, is set to helm the first three episodes.

Diane Lane (Y: The Last Man), William Jackson Harper (The Good Place), Aml Ameen (I May Destroy You), Tom Pelphrey (Ozark), Sarah Jones (For All Mankind), Jon Michael Hill (Elementary), and Chanté Adams are also scheduled to appear in A Man in Full with Liu and Daniels (A League of Their Own). A Man in Full’s release date, directors, and cast members are all unknowns at this time.
