Following the critical & commercial success of their previous film, The Gray Man, the Russo Brothers have already cast numerous notable actors in their upcoming film, The Electric State, according to an exclusive report from Deadline. The forthcoming film is scheduled to begin shooting later this autumn. Michele Yeoh, Stanley Tucci (nominated for an Oscar), Jason Alexander, and others have joined the cast of Everything, Everywhere, All at Once (Seinfeld). Reports state that Brian Cox (Succession) and Jenny Slate (Marcel the Shell: With Shoes On) will be providing their voices for CGI characters in the next science fiction flick. Previous cast members Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) and Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) will be joined by the new cast members.
While the performers’ exact roles have yet to be confirmed, we should learn more once production begins later this year. The Electric State is an adaptation of Simon Stlenhag’s graphic novel of the same name, written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and directed by the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, who are renowned for helming multiple MCU films, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The film will feature Brown as an orphaned teen who, accompanied by a robot and a wanderer, ventures into the American West in pursuit of her younger brother in a retro-futuristic environment.
After the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, the two filmmakers moved on to other projects, including Ryan Gosling’s breakout role in The Gray Man, one of the most-viewed films on Netflix this year. Fans of the two directors may want to keep an eye out for The Electric State, a new film in the works that is based on a compelling narrative. The Russo Brothers, along with Mike Larocca, Chris Castaldi, and Patrick Newall, will produce the film in addition to directing it.
Angie Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Geoff Haley, Markus, and McFeely will serve as the film’s executive producers. Netflix bought the rights to the film, so that’s where it will likely premiere first. Because The Electric State is still in its infancy in terms of manufacturing, there is currently no scheduled release date.
