The release date for Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker 2’ sequel has been set: Cast, Synopsis & More

The announcement that Warner Brothers Discovery will not be releasing Batgirl has been disheartening for many DC fans over the past 24 hours. However, the release date for Joker: Folie A Deux has been announced for DC fans seeking for some good news. On October 4, 2024, Deadline exclusively reported that the sequel to the mega-hit comic book film will be released. For Joker 2 to be released on the fifth anniversary of its predecessor, this suggests that the film will be out in 2015. Since the debut of Joker in October of this year, which had a massive impact on the box office, this makes perfect sense. The Joker’s reign began with a strong $94 million opening weekend. The picture would close its international box office run with more than $1 billion in ticket sales.

When the first Joker came out, it seemed like a one-off; nevertheless, since money speaks, a sequel was shortly in the works. The premise of the planned sequel is still a mystery, but director Todd Phillips and actor Joaquin Phoenix have already signed on for a return engagement. As previously reported, WB is considering Lady Gaga for the role of Harley Quinn, according to rumours. Also, in a strange twist, it was revealed that the movie will be a musical. Many fans were taken aback by this, given the grim rated-R criminal thriller that the previous film had been.

WB has yet to formally confirm this, although the Joker has been a variety of different characters throughout the years. When he isn’t killing people, he’s been known to belt out some tunes as well. After the first film’s titles rolled, there were still a lot of loose ends. Thought-provoking stories like this one certainly piqued your curiosity about whether or not anything actually transpired on screen or whether it was all in the mind of The Joker. That’s what it looks to be based on the title, Folie A Deux, which refers to “an uncommon delusional disease shared by two or more persons with deep emotional links.”

A blood-soaked musical could be precisely what the doctor ordered to separate this sequel from the highly praised original. This title also supports the speculation that Harley will be introduced in this picture. The fact that Joker 2 is still in development gives DC fans a glimmer of hope in these difficult times. Fans will have plenty of time to revisit and evaluate Joker in October 2024. Streaming of HBO Max’s version of the classic DC villain is presently available.
