Marc Spector/Stephen Grant (Oscar Isaac) was expected to return to television screens following a huge cliffhanger at the end of the 1st season of Marvel’s Moon Knight series. Many new avenues for plot development and potential MCU connections opened up with the inclusion of an alter ego for the main character. Fortunately for fans of the show, it appears that the character will be returning for a second time. According to Mohammed Diab, Isaac appeared on TikTok in which they strongly hinted at a second season on Disney+. “Why else would we be in Cairo?” Isaac reacts to the subject of whether or not Moon Knight will receive a second season. Apparently doubling down, Diab also shared the TikTok on Twitter.
In theory, if it is true that the programme will be returning, it contradicts everything that has been indicated so far outside the show’s reality. For starters, Variety said that Isaac wasn’t under a long-term contract to continue starring in the MCU, so a new arrangement would be necessary, possibly with a salary boost considering the show’s stellar reviews. It didn’t rule out the possibility of Isaac returning, but it did imply that he wasn’t designed to be a regular in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In addition, Disney never paid as much attention to this programme as it had to prior ones like WandaVision and Loki.
Marvel’s schedule for the future appears to be focused on programmes centred around characters who will feature in the MCU. If a new season can be squeezed into the MCU’s Phase 6 timeframe, it may put Moon Knight on the fast track to being part of the bigger MCU. Moon Knight wrapped off back in May, following Marc Spector and Stephen Grant as they were dragged into a larger mystery involving the gods of Egypt. Layla El-Faouly, called the Scarlet Scarab, is played by May Calamawy in the show. A 91% viewership rating was achieved despite the presence of a well-known superhero in the series cast. With a stunning performance by Isaac that conveyed the numerous disparities between Marc and Stephen, it introduced mystery and grittiness to Disney+’s superhero show collection, all lifted by a great performance.
