Studio Trigger has the chance to show off its might in a new Netflix teaser for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which introduces the members of the Edgerunners team. It’s one of the greatest glimpses yet into the personalities and designs of the characters fans will meet in the series. There’s also plenty of bloody action and indications of what the Edgerunners crew will be getting up to in the future.
It will be available on the streaming service in September for 10 episodes. Action scenes and hints at David’s past are shown before the tape is shown to the whole Edgerunners team. With his neon-coloured super-speed, David portrays himself as a confident street kid and a new member of the Edgerunners. It appears that Maine, whose rough demeanour and pistol arm resemble Barrett from Final Fantasy VII is the group’s apparent commander.
Additionally, they have Dorio, the group’s super-strong resident muscle who is also equipped with a revolver. She resembles an android more than an enhanced human, from the sound of her computerised voice to the way her eyes dim when they are injured. When it comes to the gang, Pilar is one of the most outlandish characters, while Rebecca is a full-fledged crazed lunatic. Lucy, the second primary character, is a quieter, but equally talented, member of the group. The rest of the video focuses on action and bright colours, but there are also significant facts regarding David and Lucy’s relationship.
David’s decision to join the Edgerunners as a “modified outlaw” was spurred by his search for the elusive Lucy. As they show real compassion for one other and even share a kiss as David vows to take her to the moon one day, their friendship transcends beyond that. Seeing how frequently they’ve been together in promotional material, it’s clear that their connection is at the centre of the series. CD Projekt RED and Studio Trigger are working on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a spin-off of the popular Cyberpunk 2077 video game. An Edgerunner’s adventure as a Night City Edgerunner will be the focus of the TV series, based on the setting of Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk tabletop role-playing game, Night City. “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” and “Cyberpunk 2077” creator Rafa Jaki acts as showrunner and executive producer. Satoru Homma, Bartosz Sztybor, and Saya Elder are the show’s producers.
Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill) has been hired to direct the animation. They include Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), character designer and animation director Yoh Yushinari (Little Witch Academia), Yoshiki Usa (GRIDMAN UNIVERSE series, Promare), and Masahiko Otsuka (GRIDMAN UNIVERSE series, Promare) (Star Wars: Visions). Composer Akira Yamaoka, best known for his work on the Silent Hill series, provided the music.
The Netflix series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will launch in September.
