Next month, the Roku Channel will premiere a live recording of Heather’s: The Musical from the West End. Pre-release, Roku has published a brief clip from the recording of the show’s title, which features the three “mean girls” (not the “mean girls” mentioned above).
Based on the 1989 cult hit film Heathers, starring Winona Ryder and Christian Bale, Heathers: The Musical is a high school dark comedy that revels in the ludicrous and horrible. As in the film adaptation, Veronica Sawyer, an outcast who is adopted by the three Heathers, becomes a popular member of the school.
As long as JD doesn’t show up and confuse the situation, that is. After many unfortunate suicides,’ the town of Westerberg High will be thrown into a frenzy. Heathers get a striking new appearance in the latest trailer, which was published today. It opens with a group of pupils waiting for their turn to bow before the three Heathers who control the world. The Heathers step out onto the stage when a door in the middle of the stage opens.
We’re cut off just as the ominous trio disappears into the distance. To hear the song, you’ll have to wait till Roku publishes the complete production. We are committed to discovering a variety of unique methods to provide premium programming to our audience, and there is nothing like the thrill of a live performance,” Roku’s Head of Originals, David Eilenberg, stated. That’s why we’re so excited for people to see and hear ‘Heathers: The Musical.’
As part of our partnership with Village Roadshow Pictures and BKStudios, we’re excited to bring the on-stage excitement into millions of homes throughout the country for free.”
BKStudios and The Roku Channel are “ecstatic” to partner with Village Roadshow Pictures and BKStudios on “Heathers: The Musical,” the Executive Vice Presidents of Feature Film, Village Roadshow Pictures, said in a statement. “Heathers” has captivated audiences for decades, and we have no doubt that our live adaptation will do the same.” Andy Fickman was the musical director for Heathers: The Musical.
