Before Comic-Con in 2022, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn was unaware that the highly anticipated threequel was part of Phase 5 of the MCU. Gunn shared the news of the new MCU release schedule with fans via his Twitter account. Marvel Studios presented an ambitious three-phase strategy at SDCC, which includes Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and hundreds of theatrical releases and Disney+ shows. After She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premieres on Disney+ and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theatres, Phase 4 will come to a close, according to the presentation.
It’s expected that Phase 5 will ratchet up the pace and introduce the next big baddie, Kang the Conquerer, played by Jonathan Majors, who will take centre stage after Avengers: Endgame. However, as Gunn stated on Twitter, filmmakers are uninformed of the Phases structure, and the larger picture does not affect the production of individual chapters of the newly called “Multiversal Saga.”. Gunn claims that he was unaware that “Vol 3″ was actually Phase 5 until the Comicon presentation.”
Even Gunn, one of the MCU’s most influential creative brains, was unaware of Marvel Studios’ plan to keep the project under wraps. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was mentioned on Twitter by Gunn’s fans. Despite the fact that the one-off special was shot at the same time as Vol. 3, Marvel Studios’ three-phase plan did not include it. This year’s holiday special represents the conclusion of Phase 4, according to Gunn. Because of this, it’s safe to assume that the Holiday Special will only serve as an introduction, with the bulk of the action occurring in Volume 3. After a newborn version of Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) was unveiled at the 2022 SDCC, the sequel is promising to explain Rocket’s genesis tale.
Aside from his role as the High Evolutionary, Chukwudi Iwuji will portray a villain who tests all kinds of creatures in his quest to produce the ideal being. Additionally, Will Poulter, Maria Bakalova, Daniela Melchior, Nico Santos, and Daniela Melchior from The Suicide Squad have all been cast in the third instalment as Adam Warlock, Cosmo, the space dog. Also starring in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are Zoe Saldána as Gamora; Dave Bautista as Drax; Karen Gillan as Nebula; Pom Klementieff as Mantis; and Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot.
In May 2023, Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released in theatres. The Holiday Special is slated to arrive on Disney+ around the end of the year in 2022.
