The most recent update to Gran Turismo 7 adds new race events and better Credit awards. It is to be hoped that these modifications will allow racers to obtain their million-Credit hypercars sooner rather than later. In addition to increasing Credit rewards for World Circuit and online Lobby and Sport races, the latest Gran Turismo 7 update introduces new events including hour-long Endurance races and a long list of tweaks and bug fixes. The update was released today, surprising ahead of the weekly Sport Mode Daily Race reset.
GT7 Patch Notes (opens in new tab) do not mention how much of an increase in Credit Rewards we’re getting in the PS5 racing sim, however, fans on the Gran Turismo subreddit(opens in new tab) have reported substantially greater payouts than before. According to the attached example, the winner of a 15-lap touring car race would be entitled to a whopping 485,000 crores in prize money. The new Endurance events “will award up to 1.2 million Cr. per event,” according to the patch notes. These Endurance races are worth discussing on their own.
In the Mission mode menu of GT7, these monolithic races are referred to as ‘The Human Comedy’ (which we can only guess is an intended pun from the programmers), which means that your focus will have to be razor-sharp if you want to walk away with a first-place Clean Race prize. New awards are related to the time trial-focused Circuit Experience events, enhanced car physics on dirt tracks, and an increase of vehicles available for purchase in the Used and Legendary Cars menu are all part of this update’s noteworthy additions.
With this latest Gran Turismo 7 patch, the game’s bumpy debut was mostly blamed on insufficient Credit awards and days-long maintenance delays that rendered the online-required racing completely unusable, which led to a Metacritic review bomb. Although the upgrade has made a significant difference, developer Polyphony Digital is not yet out of the woods and there is still a long way to go. For starters, the online Sport mode’s Driver and Sportsmanship Ranks are still ambiguous.
We would greatly appreciate better visual indications of whether acts are boosting or lowering our ranks. There’s room for improvement in the penalty system as well. For little scrapes and bumps against other racers, we’ve received penalties of up to five seconds in our experience. On the other hand, we’ve seen drivers intentionally swerve others off the road while escaping punishment. With the advent of Menu Books, we’d want to revisit GT7’s Cafe again, which we found to be really delightful. This game’s World Circuit events and the vehicles and Credits we were able to gather as a result of completing the single-player objectives were what got us hooked on the game. More Menu Books would be great, especially as Polyphony promises to add more World Circuit races to the game.
