It seems like just a few months ago that Red Dead Redemption 2 was released by Rockstar Games, allowing players to enter a vast frontier world full of outlaws and shootouts. It couldn’t have been that long ago when it released the wildly popular Grand Theft Auto 5, couldn’t it? The answer is a resounding yes. GTA 5 May have been re-issued in order to extend its existence, however, it was launched in 2013 in the United States.
We now know for sure that another game in the most well-known Rockstar series is on the way, thanks to the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles, which mark the beginning of a new generation of consoles. Let’s dive right in and see what we can learn about Grand Theft Auto 6 together. Before we go into the specifics of when the game might be released, let me give you some context.
Since the release of GTA 5, Rockstar was unable to focus solely on the development of a follow-up. According to some reports, the company started working on GTA 6 as early as 2014, but it also had to produce Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, as well as the Google Stadia versions of Red Dead Redemption 2. In the end, Rockstar has finally revealed that GTA 6 is in development and that while no details are available at this time, we may expect more information in the future.
That there will be a sixth Grand Theft Auto game, as many of us thought, is exciting news. Keep your expectations in check, but don’t become too excited. GTA 6’s release platforms were also mentioned in the first major leak. This is probably the most important tidbit. It’s clear that GTA 5 was published on PS3 and Xbox 360 at the end of a system generation, and then re-released with improved performance and graphics on the next generation of consoles. GTA 6 appears to have broken that trend, however. This means the game will be exclusive to the Playstation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox X and S.
At the time of its release, those consoles will have been on the market for at least a couple of years. To be fair, GTA 6’s PC release would be rather surprising given that Red Dead Redemption 2 arrived at PC players faster than GTA 5 did years ago.
Playing Grand Theft Auto 6
A new Grand Theft Auto game usually has one main question on everyone’s mind – where will it take place? Rockstar has to make a decision regarding GTA’s environment more than anything else, even though characters and storylines are equally as interesting. There’s a giant question mark hovering over the game’s playground, which may be Liberty City, Los Santos, or some other metropolis. It has been speculated that GTA 6 will take place in Vice City, GTA 3’s much-loved, neon-soaked counterpart to Miami, at one point among GTA Online gamers. What is the rationale behind this decision?
With Open Wheels, GTA Online offers a race track that looks like a map that includes Miami, as well as a large portion of Mexico. Although the general shape of the game is shown in the image below, it is clear that Rockstar is maintaining a tight lid on things for the time being. Alleged leaks from the acquaintance of an ex-Rockstar employee have provided a little more depth to this concept. Based on the information, the game will be situated in Florida and feature a larger-than-ever-before-seen-in-a-video-game world that spans three cities including Vice City.
The three major characters from GTA 5 will reportedly be joined by four new ones in this game. More of the map has been leaked, including an area that some fans believe is modelled on the structure of the Kennedy Space Center. However, as always, there is little evidence to support this claim as fact. A Reddit user has put together a vision of what the map might look like based on different leaked photographs. We’re a little sceptical that it’ll be real unless Rockstar is taking the series on a very nautical path.
In our minds, this is a long-overdue addition to the game’s pool of playable characters, and we’re excited to see it finally come to fruition. Tom Henderson, a seasoned leader who has made valid assertions in the past, provided the information. Aside from the GTA series, there have also been ideas that Liberty City, San Andreas (from GTA: San Andreas, of course), and the Midwest may be included, or possibly all of the above for separate portions.
In March 2022, a rumour claimed that the game would be divided over multiple time periods, not just for brief episodes like GTA 5’s prologue. In any case, you should expect this title to test Sony and Microsoft’s new consoles to their limits. No one can say for sure, but it appears that the game world will be larger and more intricate than the map from GTA 5.
