You may now get your hands on The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild’s Ancient Shield in the form of a replica. In spite of its Wii U debut, Breath of the Wild was Nintendo Switch’s most popular game when it was first launched. Despite being released about five years ago, the game is still frequently ranked in the top 30 in the Nintendo Switch’s eShop. In June, Nintendo’s E3 Direct revealed gameplay for Breath of the Wild’s follow-up. On December 9, 2021, there are reports that the much-anticipated successor will be shown at the 2021 Game Awards.
A big and creative community has formed around this modern classic since its publication in 2017. Even though four years have gone by since the game’s last big addition, The Champion’s Ballad was released, Breath of the Wild fans have gotten a lot out of the game, from cosplay and fan art to various hypotheses. A Breath of the Wild multiplayer mod was recently offered a $10,000 incentive by a YouTuber/Twitch streamer earlier this year.
YouTuber Miroslavus documented the restoration of the Ancient Shield in Breath of the Wild in a video from his channel, Gyro. Miroslavus’ shield replica not only looks like it does in-game, but it also opens and shuts correctly. To get the shield to move the way it was planned, Miroslavus had to completely redo the mechanism. Parts of the shield’s mechanism that open it in the game pass through each other. Miroslavus decided to split the upper and lower limbs into two independent layers in order for them to work.
Towards the end of the video, Miroslavus is shown putting the shield to the test. In the video, another individual breaks glass bottles on the item to see if it’s strong enough. The shield was hit by a toy Master Sword, a stick, and what appeared to be foam darts. Glass bottles were thrown at the shield, and a 9 millimeter BB gun was fired at it, but the shield was not harmed. However, it was able to withstand the assault of the Yiga Clan’s bananas.
While the Korok seeds and shrines have been collected, fans of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have shown that the game still has a lot more to offer. That Miroslavus was able to put together a working version of the Ancient Shield with lights and all is quite astounding. Breath of the Wild’s sequel continues to be developed, and as such, fans continue their creative initiatives, whether these projects be realistic copies of the game’s weapons or purposely terrible Breath of the Wild fanart. Breath of the Wild’s sequel could be revealed at The Game Awards tonight, and hopefully, a release date will be one of the new facts.
