Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell Get Festive in ‘Spirited’ Posters, Release Date, Cast & More

Spirited, a star-studded adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, will debut in cinemas and on Apple TV+ this holiday season. Now that autumn has here, Apple has released four new posters for the musical, all of which feature the three stars (Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and Oscar winner Octavia Spencer) looking bright and happy.
Reynolds plays the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge in this contemporary take of the Christmas classic, while Ferrell plays one of his ghostly advisers, Present, and Spencer plays Scrooge’s coworker.

With a fresh take and original songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Spirited on Apple TV+ is poised to wow viewers. La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen, and The Greatest Showman all have memorable songs thanks to the work of these two Oscar-winning lyricists. Vassar alumna Sukari Jones, Khiyon Hursey, who got their start on Hamilton’s crew, and Emmy nominee Mark Sonnenblick round out their band of composers, guaranteeing that the film will be full of catchy original melodies. We get our first look at some of the clothes in the fresh new posters, and Ferrell looks sharp in his period garb, while Reynolds cuddles up to Present in a very un-Scroogelike move.

Spencer shines in a pair of glistening reindeer antlers with lights in her eyes, while Reynolds is shown perfecting his dancing routines while wearing another set. The ads all look to be genuine, happy moments full of laughter and a hint of behind-the-scenes action. Spirited was a highly sought-after project amongst Netflix, Paramount, and Warner Bros. despite the concept having been rewritten several times. This Christmas show has the makings of glittering festive blockbuster success, with its all-star leads and tremendous skill among the staff. Since Daddy’s Home, which starred Will Ferrell, and Instant Family were both written by Sean Anders and John Morris, it’s reasonable to assume that Spirited, which they directed, will be a humorous take on Dickens’s sombre novel.

Reynolds, Ferrell, David Koplan, and Jessica Elbaum all act as producers for Maximum Effort, which both directors help run. The show’s executive producer is George Dewey. Spirited also features Joe Tippett, Marlow Barkley, Patrick Page, and Jen Tullock as well as the voices of Sunita Mani (Everything, Everywhere, All at Once) as Past and Aimee Carrero (Mack & Rita) as Nora. There will be a theatrical release of Spirited on November 11 and an Apple TV+ debut on November 18.
