No one knows if God or the devil choose Sister Ann (Jacqueline Byers) to stop the worldwide spread of demonic possession. An intriguing query is presented in the latest teaser for Prey for the Devil. Ann’s “calling to help people” is established in the new film, and her relationship with a little girl who is believed to be possessed by a malevolent spirit is seen. Since only males are authorised to exorcise evil spirits, the heroine is the sole woman studying at St. Michael the Archangel School of Exorcism in order to heal herself and others.
The movie seems perfect for Halloween, with its promise of plenty of frights and the mind-bending reality of Ann’s history. Since Ann’s mother was also influenced by a demonic presence, the true question is whom the evil spirit wishes to possess now. Considering her abilities, Ann is on the front lines of the spiritual battle, and the demons from her past keep coming back for her. The majority of exorcism movies, like The Exorcist and the first The Conjuring film, portray women as the victims of demonic possession. However, Daniel Stamm’s film offers a welcome twist on this convention by casting Ann in the role of the hero. The trailer gives a good idea of the film’s tension and drama, and it promises to be an intriguing movie that combines spiritual and demonic elements.
The German director’s previous films, such as 13 Sins and The Last Exorcism, demonstrate his skill with otherworldly horror. Actors Colin Salmon, Christian Navarro, Lisa Palfrey, Nicholas Ralph, Ben Cross, and Virginia Madsen join Byers in the film. The film’s screenplay was written by Robert Zappia, and Stamm was tapped to direct. Zappia, Earl Richey Jones, and Todd R. Jones wrote the narrative. Paul Brooks, Todd R. Jones, Earl Richey Jones, and Jessica Malanaphy are the film’s producers. The devil’s prey is available as of October 28.
