After the events of chapter 211, readers of Jujutsu Kaisen expected chapter 212 to bring unpleasant news for the key duo of Yuji and Megumi. However, the shocking and frightening twist at the conclusion of the chapter was completely unexpected. With this chapter, Sukuna makes her triumphant comeback to the action. After much speculation, chapter 212 of Jujutsu Kaisen explains Sukuna’s true feelings for Megumi. Megumi comes dangerously close to death and Yuji experiences severe trauma as a result of what happens in this chapter. In Chapter 212 of Jujutsu Kaisen, we learn the identity of Tsumiki’s imposter and see Sukuna make a triumphant return to claim his new ship.
Megumi and Yuji were able to implement a rule in the previous chapter that gave participants the option to leave the Culling game in exchange for a substitute and 100 points. Megumi revealed her true identity as a host for an Incarnated sorcerer when she sought to make Tsumiki depart by offering her 100 points and then created another rule permitting free exit and access to colonies.
Chapter 212 of Jujutsu Kaisen: Recollections
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 212 opens with a flashback to when Megumi, just woken from a coma after a year and seven months, went to meet Tsumiki just before the start of the Culling Game. After learning about Gojo and the challenges of a Jujutsu Sorcerer’s profession, Tsumiki sought him out and he explained the issue to the distraught young man. Megumi, however, reassured her that everything was OK, and the woman remarked that Megumi was, as usual, unyielding. The focus of Jujutsu Kaisen’s 212th chapter returns to Yuji’s internal monologue as he processes the events of 211. Once Tsumiki was secure, he figured Megumi would be OK. After Angel and Yuji killed Sukuna, Gojo was released to deal with Kenjaku. Remembering the time he saved Megumi the first time they met, Yuji thanked his companion and his teacher for giving him the opportunity to prove his value. And then it came out that Tsumiki was a fake.
Chapter 212 of Jujutsu Kaisen, titled “Yorozu.”
For the time being, the impostor identifies themselves to Megumi as his older sister when she inquires about their identity. Megumi, still in shock, recalls that in order to thrive in the contemporary world, the Incarnated are allowed access to the memories of their hosts. The likelihood of them successfully impersonating their hosts is therefore high. Megumi’s assumption that Tsumiki, like Higuruma and Takaba, was an awakened sorcerer was naive.
The imposter reveals to Megumi that her true identity is “Yorozu,” a name that the incarnated sorcerers may recognise. She posed as Tsumiki to take advantage of the 100 bonus points Megumi gave her so that she could pick her own battles. She’s been waiting a thousand years for a decent battle, so she chooses Sukuna. After saying she would be waiting, she sprouts mothlike wings behind her and takes off.
This is “Something Interesting,” from Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 212
Yuji and Hana try to follow her in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 212, but Sukuna takes advantage of the situation to say, “Enchain.” With his body surrendered to Sukuna, as per the binding commitment stated in chapter 11, Hana is knocked out cold. Later, he channels Cursed Energy into one of Yuji’s fingers, rips it off, and then reveals the scenario to a stunned Megumi. He says he took a chance, but his assumption that Yuji didn’t mean to include himself in the rule that Sukuna couldn’t harm anyone for this one minute proved to be true. Megumi tightens his seal in an attempt to call upon Mahoraga, but Sukuna breaks the barrier and gives him the finger. After coming to, Yuji overhears Sukuna saying that he did, in fact, assure the youngster that they would one day witness something remarkable. Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 212 indicates that as Megumi raises his head, Sukuna’s markings are visible on him, but the eye marks on Yuji’s face have disappeared, indicating that Sukuna has transferred himself into Megumi.
Analysis
Yorozu must be a historical figure from the last millennium, either well-known or infamous, which would increase the likelihood that she is the game’s creator. She joins Kahsimo and Angel as the other two Incarnated who are actively out to murder or harm Sukuna. Whether or whether Yorozu is aware that Yuji serves as Sukuna’s vessel is unknown.
It’s unclear whether or not the king of Curses was present, but her comments about meeting them afterwards suggest that he was. Kenjaku and Uraume, for reasons both unclear and maybe less hostile, are also after Sukuna. Yuji lost a finger and is still bleeding since Sukuna didn’t treat him before he left. The two additional eye markings on Yuji’s cheeks are no longer visible on the last page of chapter 212 of Jujutsu Kaisen, proving that the transfer was successful. This means that from this point on, Megumi will be Sukuna’s primary vessel, and Yuji will be liberated. This necessitates a change in the edict from Itadori’s Execution to Fushiguro’s Execution. From the moment he met Megumi Fushiguro, Sukuna has been dropping hints about his ambitions for the boy.
He even risked his own life to save the youngster during the Shibuya Incident, disproving any claims that he was exclusively after that particular Shikigami. Some have speculated that Sukuna planned to use the unusual Ten Shadows method so that he could coerce Megumi into giving him a shadow body. Chapter 212 of Jujutsu Kaisen demonstrates that, while he may have required the Ten Shadows method, a new body was not necessary. Megumi is only a sorcerer compatible enough with Sukuna’s Cursed Energy to host him, as opposed to Yuji, who was designed to be a perfect vessel but lacks his own Cursed Technique. He lacks the willpower to fight back against Sukuna, who now has free reign over his body, memories, and the desired Cursed Technique.
As a Closing Remark
The combined destructive potential of Sukuna and his Ten Shadows is terrifying. Megumi is also a far more desirable captive from an emotional standpoint than Yuji. Gojo, Yuta, Maki, and Hakari, the only people who stand a chance against Sukuna at this time, are all emotionally invested in Megumi to some degree. Though Angel would have killed Yuji without remorse, she would think twice before harming Megumi because of Hana’s feelings for him. Consequently, Sukuna’s possession grants him complete dominance over everything.
However, as shown in his monologue in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 212, this may be the final straw for Yuji, whose only anchor to sanity at this time was the protection of Megumi. While Yuji does not yet have a Cursed Technique, he makes excellent use of Cursed Energy. Perhaps this will be the catalyst that finally drives him to develop, revealing how deeply Sukuna’s Cursed Energy has etched itself into Yuji’s own being. He may or may not be able to save Megumi, but the odds are extremely low.
