Fans of Yellowstone should expect even more exciting things in the future. According to Deadline, creator Taylor Sheridan is already working on the second season of the upcoming prequel series 1923, even though Season 5 doesn’t premiere for a few more weeks. Hopefully, by the end of the year, Paramount+ will debut the first season of the Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren-starring series. The initial plan for 1923’s creation and release was for it to run for just one year. However, Sheridan reportedly thinks that two eight-episode seasons are necessary to do justice to the prequel’s story.
According to reports, the production companies behind Yellowstone and all of its spin-offs, 101 Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios have already given the second season the go-ahead, and all that remains is to get the cast to sign on to return. A new generation of the Dutton family, who are the protagonists of the parent series, will move to Montana in 1923 to start the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. The struggles of the family will be examined throughout the Great Depression and Prohibition.
Fans of the original series were excited by the announcement of a prequel series, and that excitement spread when audiences saw the talent attached to the project. The addition of such A-list actors as Ford and Mirren ensured the show’s spot on many viewers’ must-watch lists. Timothy Dalton, Jerome Flynn, Robert Patrick, and Darren Mann also have recurring roles in the show. Apparently, Sheridan is planning additional spinoffs that will centre on the Dutton family and their ranch in the 1940s and 1960s. adding to the world Sheridan opened up in Yellowstone.
In addition to 6666, an upcoming modern-day set spin-off following a Texas ranch, there is 1883, which followed a post-Civil War Dutton family and spawned its own spin-off in 1883: The Bass Reeves Story. Sheridan, a writer nominated for an Oscar, is the series’ undisputed creative force. Not only did he co-create Yellowstone, but he also gets credit for coming up with the idea for every single Yellowstone-inspired show that came after it. Furthermore, he has written nearly every episode of Yellowstone and 1883, and it is anticipated that he will take a similarly hands-on approach to create the next spin-offs.
Moreover, Sheridan has directed some episodes. Anyone would be tempted to believe Sheridan if he said 1923 required a second season to be done properly. In December 2022, Paramount+ subscribers may anticipate seeing 1923 available for streaming.
