Fox has recently published a batch of new photos from the upcoming Halloween-themed episode of Family Guy, “Happy Holo-ween.” Fox will show “Happy Holo-ween” this coming Sunday following Halloween episodes of The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers. In “Happy Halloween,” Peter Griffin transforms into a hologram to escape doing tedious housework.
Seven photos from the new Family Guy Halloween special have been shared by Fox thus far. The visuals, in a sense, serve as a synopsis of the episode’s story.
In the first, we see the residents of Quahog enjoying a Halloween-themed carnival, while in the second, Peter, Cleveland, Quagmire, and Joe wait in line to enter a “Hallway Of Holograms.” Two further images depict Peter escaping the carnival with an R2-D2 figurine and conversing with a figure like a crazy scientist. Peter presses a button on the R2-D2-like machine, and Peter is confronted by a holographic version of himself. The final three images show an establishing shot of the festively decorated Griffin home with some lightning.
Images suggest “Happy Holo-ween” is a humorous, lighthearted take on the Halloween theme. The Season 9 episode “Nightmare on Spooner Street,” one of several Family Guy Halloween specials, has received mostly positive reviews. The sixth episode of Season 21, which premiered on September 25, is titled “Happy Holo-ween.” A number of well-known actors and comedians make appearances in Season 21 of Family Guy, including Mario Lopez, Gerald McRaney, Jay Pharoah, Martha Plimpton, and Casey Wilson.
As soon as they air on Fox, all of Season 21 of Family Guy will be available on Hulu. The landmark 400th episode of Family Guy will air in Season 21. The animated series Family Guy has been airing for nearly twenty years, and it continues to be a rating success. Season 21’s premiere, “Oscars Guy,” attracted 1.57 million viewers. Season five’s most recent episode, “Unzipped Code,” attracted 1.42 million viewers. The season’s low point was episode one’s 1.1 rating. The premiere episode of Family Guy, entitled “Death Has a Shadow,” aired on Fox in 1999 and was seen by 22.01 million people.
Despite the popularity of the first season, Fox chose to end Family Guy after only two seasons in 2002. DVD sales for the first three seasons were also quite well, and repeats on Adult Swim attracted a significant following. Fox officially renewed Family Guy for a fourth season in 2005, following a letter-writing campaign. It looks like a smart move on Fox’s side. On October 30 at 9:30 PM EST, Fox will screen the Family Guy episode “Happy Holo-ween.” Hulu now features every episode of Family Guy ever made.
