Actors Morfydd Clark (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) and Jai Courtney (Suicide Squad) have recently joined the cast of Dario Russo’s next thriller The Fox. The next movie is a black comedy set in a fairy tale format. Chief Executive Officer of Protagonist Pictures Dave Bishop made the casting announcement for Clark and Courtney today. The movie will start shooting in Australia in the middle of the year 2023. In the film, the protagonist learns that his fiancée has been unfaithful after inheriting a grape empire. He just cares about relieving his own pride and shame, so he takes the advice of one fox who says that if he throws his fiancé into a mystical hole, everything would be OK.
The fox claims his future wife will be the ideal companion whenever she finally materialises. The heir’s now-perfect fiancée, however, has some weird eccentricities that may cause him to second-guess their engagement. Protagonist Pictures CEO Dave Bishop called Dario “a trailblazing innovator and the right helmer for this remarkable narrative loaded with gallows humour,” which probes themes of desire, duplicity, and the hidden reality beneath the veneer of normalcy.
According to the critics, “Jai is wonderfully cast as Nick, having developed a fantastic career playing intriguing individuals who find themselves in otherworldly situations,” and “demand for Morfydd continues to justifiably increase” after her stunning performance in Saint Maud. Saint Maud, a 2019 horror film, featured a breakout role for Morfydd Clark. For her role in the film, she was nominated for a BAFTA Rising Star Award. Jai Courtney is well known for his roles in the Suicide Squad movies. Terminator Genisys, Paramount’s remake of the Terminator franchise, featured him prominently.
The film is being produced by Kristina Ceyton and Samantha Jennings of Causeway Films, who also brought you the famous horror thriller The Babadook. Dave Bishop, Luane Gauer, and George Hamilton are the film’s executive producers. The film’s producers have said, “Dario is a one-of-a-kind talent and a writer-director we have wanted to collaborate with since witnessing his cult smash series Danger 5.” A clever and insanely amusing satire of human relationships and the conflict between our aspiration for domestication and our animal natures, it is an honour to help him produce his first feature film. In Morfydd and Jai, we have two outstanding leading performers who will add authenticity, complexity, and charisma to their respective parts, and we couldn’t be happier.
The film has not yet been given a premiere date.
