Fans of the forthcoming Searchlight Pictures feature The Menu have been served up more than enough promos, posters, and photos to whet their appetites. Shouts of “Yes chef!” and screams of “Oh no!” can be heard in the most recent clip posted to the feature’s Instagram account. In particular, the short highlights Ralph Fiennes’s famous Chef Slowik and Anya Taylor-Margot. Joy’s Terrorist attacks occur intermittently while a team of dedicated line cooks works to make delicious meals that will delight both the diners and the chef. In amongst all the cooking mayhem, we catch glimpses of a visitor putting their finger on the chopping board and of Margot making a break for it through a dense jungle.
Chef Slowik’s lifeless, shark-like eyes are the focal point, glaring down at the entire crew and the patrons. In The Menu, Margot (Emma Stone) and Tyler (Nicholas Hoult) go from far away to dine at their host’s highly regarded restaurant, Hawthorne and are treated to a variety of dishes made by the chef himself. Tyler, the self-proclaimed gourmet with a big food-based social media following, is far more excited about the delicious treats that await them than Margot. They decided to join a company of other opulent eaters and started out in search of a supper that would have all the items they had been searching for. Those who have made appointments at Hawthorne will soon learn that they have taken on more than they can handle as the secrets of the restaurant’s hidden ingredients take a sinister turn.
Big stars from Hollywood including Judith Light, Janet McTeer, Hong Chau, Rob Lang, Mark St. Cyr, Arturo Castro, Reed Birney, and Paul Adelstein will be joining the three as supporting cast members. Mark Mylod, director and executive producer of Succession, helms the project based on a script he co-wrote with his Succession colleagues Seth Reiss and Will Tracy. The film will be produced by Hyperobject Industries and Gary Sanchez Productions, run by Adam McKay, Betsy Koch, and Will Ferrell. The film’s distributor is called Searchlight. With less than a month until the debut of The Menu on November 18, we and the teaser trailer strongly recommend that you get your tickets immediately.
