The Invitation, a suspenseful horror film, was a hit at the box office this past summer. The unrated version, along with a slew of extras, will soon be available on Blu-ray and DVD. Digital copies of The Invitation may be purchased now, while physical copies will be made available on October 25. After the death of her mother, The Invitation follows Evie (Nathalie Emmanuel), a young lady who has no one to turn to for support. But after taking a DNA test, she finds a long-lost cousin and is invited to a wedding where she finally meets the rest of her extended family.
But the vacation quickly turns into a nightmare as Evie uncovers the mysteries of her family’s past. Additionally, starring is Thomas Doherty, Stephanie Corneliussen, Alana Boden, Hugh Skinner, and Sean Pertwee. Bonus content abounds for those who purchase the film on Blu-ray or Digital. Included with this is a fresh, unrated edit of the picture that promises to be even bloodier than the PG-13 version that was shown in theatres. Also included are a pair of featurettes that go into further detail about the film’s plot, characters, and production design.
The special features include extras like cut sequences and a different conclusion. Those who purchase the DVD may see the making of documentaries as well. Jessica M. Thompson helms the film based on a script by Blair Butler titled The Invitation. After making her directorial debut with 2017’s The Light of the Moon, this is her second feature picture to helm. Butler has previously contributed to the horror flicks Hell Fest and Polaroid as a writer. Thompson and Michael P. Flannigan serve as executive producers alongside film producer Emile Gladstone.

Synopsis
After her mother passed away and she was left without any living relatives, Evie decided to take a DNA test… and found a long-lost cousin she had never realised she had. She is invited by her new family to a lavish wedding in the English countryside, where she is at first enticed by the gorgeous nobleman host before being forced into a nightmare of survival as she learns the dark family history and sinister motivations behind her new family’s profligate gifts.
