Significant Other, a science fiction/psychological thriller from Paramount+, has three all-new posters. Starring Maika Monroe (It Follows) and Jake Lacy (The White Lotus), the film follows a couple who go camping in the woods and get concerned that a frightening creature may be following them. Ruth (Monroe) and Harry (Lacy) take a solo camping trip into the woods to reconnect and talk about their relationship in the film Significant Other. Ruth might use this trip as a chance to examine her mental health and confront her worries. After Ruth’s distressing forest discovery,
however, the pair must contend with the possibility of being driven apart by an unseen power. Ruth and Harry will have to face not just the external pressures keeping them apart, but also their own pasts and the ways in which they pose risks to one another. The new exclusive posters for Significant Other are a spot-on reflection of the film’s taut atmosphere and unsettling plot. The first poster, created by artist Rob Sheridan, is a mashup of Monroe and Lacy’s faces on a black backdrop, giving the impression that their separate identities are vanishing.
The second poster was designed by Doaly, and it features the pair hiking over the head of a dead deer. Last but not least, Rob Sheridan’s third billboard features silhouetted humans against a nighttime forest, hinting at the severity of the threats that Ruth and Harry will encounter. There is a wide variety of artistic styles among these posters, but they all do an excellent job of showcasing the film’s most prominent features without giving away the film’s surprising twist. Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, who directed 2019’s Villains alongside Monroe, are responsible for Significant Other.
Berk and Olsen authored the story and serve as directors, with Paramount snatching distribution rights following a bidding war. Dan Kagan is the film’s producer. You may also recognise Teal Sherer and Loudon McCleery from their roles in Significant Other. On October 7th, Paramount+ debuted the first episode of Significant Other.
