Deadline reports that Vincent D’Onofrio, Anthony Ramos, and Dane DeHaan have joined the cast of Dumb Money, an upcoming film from Sony and Black Bear Pictures. To date, stars Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, Shailene Woodley, and Pete Davidson have been confirmed to star in the film. Craig Gillespie, an Australian-American director, will be at the head of the drama. The Antisocial Network, written by best-selling author Ben Mezrich, chronicles the story of the David-versus-Goliath GameStop short squeeze, which may have changed Wall Street forever and inspired the film.
As the opening salvo in a revolution that threatened to overthrow the system, the book provides a riveting account of how users of a subreddit called WallStreetBets and a loosely associated group of private investors knocked down one of the largest hedge funds on Wall Street. Probably what brought Ramos the most famous was his role as Aaron Burr in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Hamilton. Recently, he co-starred with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Melissa Barrera, and others in Jon Chu’s musical drama In The Heights. He’ll next be featured in Distant, a film by Will Speck and Josh Gordon for Amblin.
In addition to his work on Marvel’s Iron Heart for Disney+, which stars Dominique Thorne, Manny Montana, and Alden Ehrenreich, he will also be leading the upcoming episode of the Transformers franchise from Paramount. Recently, D’Onofrio co-starred with Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield in the film The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Filming on the Netflix comedy Lift, in which he stars opposite Sam Worthington, Paul Anderson, and Kevin Hart just ended up. Perhaps his most well-known role is as the Marvel villain Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Netflix’s Daredevil series, which he played for all three seasons.
He came back as Hawkeye for the Disney+ show that also stars Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld. Next, he’ll be seen in Charlie Cox’s Daredevil: Born Again and Alaqua Cox’s Echo series, both of which feature the character. Films such as “A Cure for Wellness,” “The Place Beyond the Pines,” “Lawless,” and “Chronicle” are among Dehaan’s credits. Last seen in The Staircase on HBO Max, he has just wrapped up filming on Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Production on the film Dumb Money, directed by Gillespie and based on an adaptation by Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker Blum, has officially commenced.
Gillespie, together with Aaron Ryder of Ryder Picture Company and Teddy Schwarzman of Black Bear, will produce the film. Moreover, the film will include Michael Heimler, John Friedberg, Andrew Swett, Angelo, Schuker Blum, Mezrich, Johnny Holland, Tyler, Cameron Winklevoss, and Kevin Ulrich as executive producers. Dumb Money does not yet have a scheduled release date.
