Plenty of exciting developments for The Legend of Vox Machina’s audience were announced during the ongoing New York Comic Con. The event featured a roundtable with the show’s cast and executive producers, who debuted an exclusive first look at Season 2 before the season launch in January 2023. They also debuted a recap short with Sam Riegel and Peter Habib performing an original song to bring fans up to speed. Additionally, the cast has revealed that there will be a third season of Vox Machina available on Prime Video. Due to the overwhelming success of Season 1, Amazon has high hopes for the continuation of the critically acclaimed Critical Role. Vox Machina, the lovable misfits that starred in the inaugural Dungeons & Dragons live-streamed campaign, were reintroduced to fans at that first event earlier this year.
The series, which featured a retelling of the Briarwood arc and a prequel story about their first serious mission together, was praised by fans and critics alike for successfully capturing both the epic feel of high fantasy and the more lowbrow, chaotic nature that can come with a friendly D&D session. Several dragons pose an urgent threat to Vox Machina in the latest video. By adopting the Chroma Conclave storyline from the original Critical Role, Season 2 provides us with the breathtaking image of the chromatic dragons wreaking havoc on the city of Emon and driving the adventurers from their homes. With ominous music and brief glimpses of the animals in shadow hovering above the city, the opening acts as a horror scenario before the alarms go off and the populace panics.
In a brief scene, they show off their destructive power by freezing a number of guards and bringing a tower falling down on the villagers below. This is more than enough to establish them as a major danger for the future season. Scanlan (Riegel) raps the history of Vox Machina, taking listeners on a whirlwind tour of Season 1’s events while he delightfully explains them. In addition, he prepares the audience for the fight against the dragons by saying, “It’s time to buckle in because we’re in for another crazy ride.” Regulars on Critical Role include Travis Willingham (Marvel’s Avengers), Marisha Ray (Final Fantasy XV), Taliesin Jaffe (Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn), Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us), Riegel (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Liam O’Brien (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), Laura Bailey (The Last of Us, Part II), and Matthew Mercer (Overwatch). Co-executive producers include Brandon Auman (Star Wars: Resistance), Chris Prynoski (Metalocalypse), Shannon Prynoski (Fairfax), and Ben Kalina (Big Mouth)
In January of 2023, the adventures of The Legend of Vox Machina will resume on Prime Video.
