There’s a crisp breeze, and with it comes a brand new Mayfair Witches teaser trailer from AMC+. Ever since the adaptation of the Anne Rice novel was given the go-light in December 2021, the production has kept us updated with casting announcements and even multiple picture drops, but this is the 1st time we’ve actually seen the witchy action in action. Thankfully, it doesn’t end here. While the Mayfair Witches debut isn’t expected until early 2023, the streamer’s Twitter message assures its followers that a full-length teaser is on the way, and ideally, it will drop in time for the Halloween season. A quick glimpse introduces us to Rowan (Alexandra Daddario), the twelfth witch, as she walks uncertainly toward a Victorian mansion with verdant grounds.
She rushes beyond the old front gate, a mask of mixed emotions on her face. In the meantime, we hear a voice-over of a crowd screaming names, including Rowan’s. After a quick cut inside the house, we observe a group of individuals filing into a room one by one, and then the camera pans up to reveal a circle of chairs. When they say “the thirteenth witch,” the teaser ends. In Mayfair Witches, the focus will be on Rowan, the twelfth witch, and her entrance into the coven. Rowan, a world-famous neurosurgeon, has recently discovered that not only does she possess magical skills, but she is also the direct descendant of a long line of witches.
To make matters worse, she finds out that she will be thrust into the thick of things by being asked to aid the family in confronting a malevolent power that has plagued them for generations. The teaser doesn’t show them, but we can also look forward to seeing Harry Hamlin as Rowan’s father and family patriarch Cortland Mayfair, Jack Huston as the demonic creature known as Lasher, and Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, about whom we know very little. If you like Anne Rice’s writing, you’re in luck, since on Sunday, the reinvented TV series adaptation of Interview with the Vampire premiered.
With stars like Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, Bailey Bass, and Eric Bogosian, it’s no surprise that a 2nd season was ordered even before the first aired. Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford wrote and produced (together with Mark Johnson, Jeff Freilich, and Michael Uppendahl, who also directed) the supernatural drama Mayfair Witches. The studios at AMC create.
