In the “Halloween Ends” special feature, Jamie Lee Curtis says her final goodbye to Laurie Strode

Now that Michael Myers is back, Laurie Strode has had enough. In honour of Jamie Lee Curtis’s final appearance as Laurie Strode, Universal Pictures has created a new featurette for their forthcoming horror film Halloween Ends. The short also provides a sneak peek at what fans can anticipate from the conclusion of the Michael Myers horror trilogy. During the opening of the 60-second short, Curtis says, “Welcome back Laurie Strode. Her whole being was sacrificed; her blood, her sweat, and her tears. But the bubble popped when Michael returned,” implying a violent and dramatic end to the story. The rest of the tape consists of snippets of Jamie’s time on set, from her getting ready in hair and makeup to her joking around with the crew and eventually saying goodbye.

A heartfelt farewell to Laurie Strode will be a challenge. Curtis states tearfully at the end of the featurette, “It’s been an emotional movie for me, it has.” For almost 45 years, Curtis has played the role of Laurie Strode. Her depiction as Laurie in the Halloween films is one of the longest stretches in which the same performer has played the same role in the same film series. Since the premiere of the 1978 original, multiple sequels and spinoffs have been made, all of which feature Curtis. The success of the franchise was revived in 2018 when a remake of the first film was produced, setting new benchmarks at the box office.

With its 2021 release, Halloween Kills continued up just where its predecessor left off. In Halloween Ends, the third and last film in this reboot series, Strode and Myers will have their final horrifying showdown. The story of Halloween Ends follows Laurie and her granddaughter Allyson as they work on a book four years after the events in Halloween Kills. When Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), a young guy who was babysitting, is accused of murdering a youngster, Laurie thinks Michael Myers is no longer a threat and is ready to go on.

This sets off the usual escalation of violence as Laurie realises Michael is returned and she has to make one last fight against the darkness. Will Patton reprises his role as Officer Frank Hawkins, James Jude Courtney returns as Michael Myers (“The Shape”), and Kyle Richards reprises her role as Lindsey Wallace in David Gordon Green’s Halloween Ends. On October 14, in addition to its debut, the film will become accessible for streaming on Peacock.
