There is a strong case that can be made that Halloween films are the most recognisable horror series of all time. The 1978 babysitter killings committed by serial killer Michael Myers have become as much a part of Halloween lore as pumpkin carving and costumes. Just two weeks before the release of Halloween Ends, the tense conclusion to the long-running picture series, Universal will release a new hour-long special.
On Saturday, October 1 at 8 PM ET, NBC will air the premiere of Halloween in Hollywood. The Universal Horror Nights special, hosted by Chris Hardwick, will examine the series’ long and storied history of bloody murder. Laurie Strode herself, Jamie Lee Curtis will be there, as well Ends producer Jason Blum, Ends director David Gordon Green, Ends composers Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, and original franchise director/series composer John Carpenter. The massive following the series has established will also be highlighted in the programme.
Some of the stars who will be discussing their feelings on Halloween include Jon Barinholtz, Terry Crews, Omar Dorsey, Ryan Eggold, Ana Gasteyer, Tyler Posey, Blake Shelton, Jennifer Tilly (Chucky), and the cast of the television show Bel-Air. Robert Englund, the man behind Freddy Kruger, will reportedly demonstrate his support for Michael Jackson. This isn’t, however, straightforward history of Halloween. This one-of-a-kind event will also be an “in-depth” exploration of the iconic Halloween scare attraction that is the centrepiece of Universal Studios’ annual Universal Horror Nights celebration.
Also, we’ll show you how this famous amusement park became the best place to celebrate Halloween. The show will also kick off a promotion where viewers can enter to win two tickets to Horror Nights in 2023, giving them the chance to experience this fantastic and horrifying spectacle from the comfort of their own couches. For 40 years and counting, Halloween has been entertainingly terrifying moviegoers with its 12 instalments. To this day, the original remains a legendary work, a true masterpiece among horror movies. Halloween III: Season of the Witch and Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers is now regarded as underappreciated cult masterpieces, despite the franchise’s ups and downs in the years afterwards.
It wasn’t until Green’s legacy sequel came out in 2018 that the franchise got a terrible jolt of energy. That film was a gripping exploration of the effects of tragedy on a family, yet at the same time, it was an unbelievably savage love letter to the brand. Although Halloween Kills was not as well regarded as its predecessor, the franchise was able to maintain its momentum because of the method in which the tragedy it introduced was extended to the whole town of Haddonfield. Now we’ve reached Halloween’s end, the climactic showdown between Laurie and Michael. According to the previews, this new film will be just as bloody and gory as the last. Another incentive to watch this special is that it will feature a sneak preview of the third and final film in Green’s trilogy. The debut of Halloween in Hollywood will air on Saturday, October 1 at 8 PM ET, and the next day, on Sunday, October 2, it will be available to watch on Peacock. On October 14, Halloween Ends will arrive in cinemas and on Peacock.
