The official trailer for The Lincoln Project, an upcoming docuseries on Showtime, has been released. The series will follow the members of the powerful political action group (PAC) during the 2020 election and the attempts of GOP strategists to defeat Donald Trump.
At the beginning of the film, we see scenes from Washington, DC, Trump, and his controversial tweets. The trailer begins with a brief clip of Donald Trump criticising the Lincoln Project, saying, “they should call it the Loser’s Project.”
Later, Stuart Stevens, a member of the Lincoln Project, is heard saying, “Here’s the key: There is nothing noble about us. But we’re useful.” The Lincoln Project, founded in late 2019 by Stuart Stevens, John Weaver, George Conway, Jennifer Horn, Rick Wilson, Mike Madrid, and Reed Galen, is the fastest-growing PAC in the United States and is comprised of conservative veteran GOP operatives and strategists. Their stated mission is to “save democracy” by bringing down the sitting president of their own party. The docuseries, directed by Oscar winner Fisher Stevens and Emmy winner Karim Amer, will be produced for Showtime and will focus on the organization’s rise to prominence, as well as its bold efforts to defeat Trump.
The series will also address other controversial aspects, such as a sexual harassment scandal, an unexpected onslaught of negative press, and internal breaks over the corrupt management of its finances. Directors Stevens and Amer released the following statement:
Like the best verité documentary journeys, we had no idea where this story would take us, but we hope that by sharing this all-American tale of redemption, power, and betrayals, viewers will be inspired to take action.” Launching on Friday, October 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, The Lincoln Project will continue with new episodes every Friday at the same hour, with all five episodes also being available on demand and on Showtime’s streaming service.
