Trailer for “Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure” Release Date, Synopsis & Cast Details

In December, Netflix will debut a sitcom centred on the slacker egg known as Gudetama. Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure, a new Japanese animated series, was announced by Netflix over the weekend, along with a cute teaser clip. The cartoon follows Gudetama, a Sanrio character that takes the form of egg yolk, as he teams up with Shakipiyo, a little chick who has just hatched but still has her eggshell on. In an effort to track down their mom, the two go off on a journey, but Gudetama, being the slothful egg that he is, is understandably hesitant to get out of bed.

On December 13th, Netflix will release the first episode of the series. The trailer starts with Gudetama’s sister Shakipiyo greeting him with an enthusiastic “We’re siblings, right?” Come on, kiddos, let’s go look for Mom. Shakipiyo begs Gudetama, saying, “You are such a chicken,” but Gudetama insists they are an egg and continues to deny it. After leaving their fridge, the film follows the two as they face several dangers, including a moving sushi bar, a train journey, and hungry customers.

The clip is packed with cute scenes that will win over many viewers. There’s a sense that Gudetama’s “becoming bad” is the core tension of the trailer. The series’ version of Gudetama appears incredibly realistic in comparison to the animated one, yet it still has the same endearing “Why bother trying?” attitude. Gudetama was created by Emi Nagashima, a Sanrio designer, and is a popular “kawaii” Japanese cartoon character. Although he has a reputation for being lethargic and melancholy, Gudetama, the cracked-open egg, is nevertheless irresistibly cute. Gudetama has become a global phenomenon, appearing on everything from stationery to luggage to cosmetics to clothing to restaurants to Japanese aeroplanes and trains.

Another animated series based on the Gudetama character premiered in 2014 on a TBS show named Asa Chan! Each episode of the groundbreaking series lasted only about a minute, and by 2017 it had accumulated almost a thousand episodes. The streaming premiere of Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure will take place on December 13; the series will consist of 10 episodes. The series will combine elements of both live-action and computer animation by having actual people interact with characters created entirely in computer animation. The programme has secured the talents of Akiyoshi Nakao, Serena Motola, and Sarutoki Minagawa.
