New ‘White Noise’ Posters, Release Date, Cast, Synopsis & More

The latest posters for the Netflix thriller White Noise are out, and they seem like they’re worth a quarter to get a taste of existential dread. In case the days leading up to New Year’s weren’t dismal enough as it is, the new posters provide us with an intriguing new glimpse inside Noah Baumbach’s next film, which will be released on Netflix on December 30. New York Film Festival’s Twitter account unveiled three new posters for White Noise, the forthcoming film version of Don DeLillo’s 1985 novel of the same name, today. The protagonist of each poster is featured in black and white against a white background in an advertisement design.

The first poster features the film’s lead Adam Driver as Professor Jack Gladney, a clueless Hitler Studies professor who, with his family, fights a battle against an airborne hazardous event. The driver stands slightly off-centre on the billboard, his stomach spilling out over his slacks in a manner reminiscent of 1980s dad fashion. Right next to him is a limited-time bargain for “Fresh Existential Dread” for only 99 cents! Along with Driver’s image, two more posters including costars Greta Gerwig and Don Cheadle were also unveiled. Gerwig’s billboard has an offer for “Nitrate Infused Impending Doom” and Cheadle’s graphic offers up a “Crippling State of Anxiety” with a grin.

The new posters are a disorienting mix of hopeless commercial architecture and gloom. However, they fit in seamlessly with the topics of DeLillo’s breakthrough 1985 work and Baumbach’s frequently ludicrous and commonplace depiction of his subjects. White Noise depicts the story of Jack Gladney, a professor in a small college town, and his family as they witness their lives and community torn to bits by an ‘Airborne Toxic Event. The novel examined a wide array of subjects from unbridled consumerism to the pedantry of academics in the second part of the twentieth century. White Noise will be distributed to select cinemas in November and will be released on Netflix on December 30, 2022, as a part of Baumbach’s continuing film partnership with the streaming giant.

Both the New York Film Festival’s official account and White Noise’s account on the social media platform tweeted about the release of the new posters. The posters provide us with an intriguing look at what to expect from Baumbach’s new feature.
