‘Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure’ Trailer, Release Date, Cast, Synopsis & More

Gudetama, the slacker egg, will star in their own Netflix series beginning in the month of December. Over the weekend, Netflix made the announcement and dropped the cute teaser for the new Japanese anime, Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure. Gudetama, a Sanrio egg yolk, and Shakipiyo, a little chick that has just hatched but still has her eggshell on, are the show’s main characters. The two set off on a quest to track out their absent mother, but Gudetama, being a sluggish egg, is understandably hesitant to participate.

The premiere date for the series on Netflix is slated for December 13th. In the first scene of the trailer, Gudetama’s sister Shakipiyo greets him with an enthusiastic “We’re siblings, right? C’mon, kids, let’s go look for Momma. When Gudetama initially declines, Shakipiyo begs them, saying, “You are such a chicken!” Gudetama then explains that they are not a chicken but rather an egg. The trailer then follows the two as they venture out into the world, where they face several dangers, including a moving sushi bar, a train journey, and hungry customers.

The clip is packed with cute scenes that will win over many viewers. The trailer appears to revolve around the fundamental dilemma of Gudetama nearing its expiry date, with the unknown outcome of their “going bad” leaving viewers worried. Although Gudetama in the show has a far more realistic appearance than in the animation, he nonetheless has the same endearing “Why bother trying?” attitude. Gudetama was created by Emi Nagashima, a Sanrio designer, and is a popular “kawaii” Japanese cartoon character. Gudetama is a cracked-open egg with a drooping look who is famous for being lethargic and unhappy yet is nevertheless lovable despite his negative traits.

There are now Gudetama-themed notebooks, duffel bags, makeup, clothing, restaurants, and even Japanese bullet trains and aeroplanes. Another animated series based on the Gudetama character debuted in 2014 on a TBS show named Asa Chan! The episodes were unusual in length, clocking in at little under a minute apiece, and the series had accumulated almost a thousand instalments by 2017. On December 13th, Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure will become available to watch online and will consist of 10 episodes. A mix of live-action actors and computer-generated imagery (CG) animation, this show will have real people interacting with digital avatars. Show regulars Akiyoshi Nakao, Serena Motola, and Sarutoki Minagawa have all been cast.
