Since it’s a Walt Disney Animation Studios production, Strange World (2022) has a lot of fans waiting in anticipation for it. If you’re on the fence about Disney’s newest film, their extensive presentation at the D23 Expo should help change your mind. Both director Don Hall and screenwriter Qui Ngyuen kicked off the event by debuting a brand new trailer for their film.
The second trailer for the movie was shown at the event, but is not yet available online; it provides some new details about the Clades, the newest family of adventurers to join the Disney canon. Searcher Clade (Jake Gyllenhaal, Spider-Man: Far From Home), Ethan Clade (Jaboukie Young-White, Rough Night), Jaeger Clade (Dennis Quaid, The Parent Trap), and Callisto Mal (Lucy Liu, The Revenant) are the main characters (Kill Bill). The event also featured all four actors, who gave fans a chance to learn more about their characters.
What we saw in the first trailer, with our heroes exploring a land beneath their own and completely untouched by those who live outside of it, is expanded upon in the second trailer. We also saw a longer scene of Searcher and Jaeger rescuing Ethan from a swarm of weird tentacle monsters.
Jaeger, who has apparently been abandoned on the odd planet for years, has grown fairly familiar with the area and the creatures, even crafting himself a strong flamethrower to fight off the monsters. After then, a long pursuit occurred, and the Clade men were ultimately rescued by Callisto and Meridian Clade (Gabrielle Union), Searcher’s wife and Ethan’s mother. The new details look promising for what is sure to be another fantastical Disney adventure, maintaining the “adventure is out there” spirit of the early footage.
The premiere of Strange World will take place on November 23, 2022, and will only be shown in theatres.
