A premiere date for the third season of Star Trek: Picard on Paramount+ has been announced. To “make it so,” Season 3 will premiere on Netflix on February 16, 2023, with the remaining ten episodes showing on Thursdays throughout the year. Set eighteen years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis, Picard follows Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). Season 3 will be the first time since Nemesis that the whole TNG ensemble will be back together, while numerous former cast members have made guest appearances in the previous two seasons. After years away and fruitless talks with the Romulans, Season 1 focused on Picard’s return to action. He went back to space to preserve the galaxy and in the process, he saved the life of a young synthetic named Soji (Isa Briones).
The first season also included the return of Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), now a couple of retired parents, and Data (Brent Spiner), the popular AI from TNG, who yearned for a mortal mind. In Season 2, Picard was reunited with Whoopi Goldberg’s ethereal Guinan and the original trickster, Q, who proved to be both a friend and an adversary (John De Lancie). In the second season, Picard, his new pals, and a rebellious borg queen were sent back in time by Q, turning the show into something of an anthology.
In Season 3, a new adversary will be introduced, and Picard will get a chilling warning from Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) in the afterlife.
The new mystery necessitates the return of some familiar faces, so Picard contacts Riker, Troi, Worf (Michael Dorn), and Geordi LaForge (LeVar Burton). Spiner is also likely to return for the finale but in a different role. Actress Denise Crosby has also recently hinted that she may bring back the long-dead Tasha Yar, though she is being coy about the specifics for the time being. Both Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) and Michelle Hurd (Raffi) will be back for Season 3 of Picard. Terry Matalas, the show’s creator and executive producer, has promised fans a dramatic last adventure for Picard and crew, despite the absence of new cast members Briones, Alison Pill, Santiago Cabrera, and Evan Evagora.
The 3rd season of Star Trek: Picard is executive produced by Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Matalas, Stewart, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski, and Dylan Massin. When Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard premieres on February 16, 2023, it will be the series’ final season. Both seasons one and two are presently accessible on Paramount+.
